Copenhagen plank

We use this variation a lot. Your adductors are a major stability group for your hips so training them to be better at resisting force is exactly what we are trying to accomplish

If you haven’t already. Give it a try and let us know how it goes!

Sometimes you need to change the implement to drive a new stimulus

We love the basics and we stick with primal movements in all planes of motions to ensure the development of well rounded athletes.

We like to tactfully change implements, grip type, tempo, and more so we can drive the stimulus we are looking for.

Everyone has preferences.

We like loading the traps in a “diagonal” fashion. The muscle fibres in the upper traps suggest that loading diagonally is more optimal for producing hypertrophy.

When training a specific muscle in isolation, we want to train with the fibre orientation. This allows a full contraction of the muscle and produces greater results.

That being said, it’s a matter of accessibility and preference. It may not be as effective to vertically load your traps, but you also gotta do what you gotta do.

We include both styles in our programming so you get a taste of both.

Let us know which way you prefer!

Dead bugs only take you so far.

You see this “magical” corrective exercise all over social media. We love it but we understand it’s limitations.

Bird dogs train anti-extension and anti-flexion of the spine which is a key function of the core. However, there’s a limit to how far this exercise can take you, and a limit on transferability to your exercise.

If you can perform this with no shifting in the hips, no pain, and with good shoulder mobility, then it’s time to move on to something more advanced to drive further adaptation.

Training position

Training at the end of the day is getting into positions and getting comfortable loading the patterns.

Here we are loading the hang position in our clean to produce greater stability through the transition into your power position and into the pull.

What portion of your Olympic lifts are you struggling with?

Stick your landing

As athletes you need to be able to stick your landing safely and efficiently. When we program jumps, we want you to land in universal athletic position. This has the most carry over to sport which is important for our athletes

Progression

We love dips. To drive home the importance of shoulder stability, we will dot in some ring dips. If you have tried these you know they are difficult but important nonetheless.

Give these a shot if you have access to rings and let us know how you like them!
