Always improving, even little by little. We decided to install a camera to monitor our beetles remotely. This mitigates physical checks which often spooks the beetles, disrupting their feeding habits, causing a slower turn around on skulls. This camera will allow us to check on them and their progress from anywhere around the world and allow them to go about their business undisturbed.

Why boil it when the beetles can do the work? 🪲💀

Moose skulls are BIG, and cleaning them can be a messy, time-consuming job. Finding a pot big enough, boiling, picking away at stubborn tissue, and trying to pressure wash a skull in Alberta’s freezing temperatures…No thanks!

Or you could let a few thousand hungry beetles handle the dirty work!

You put in the work to harvest your trophy. Let us take care of the skull.

You request it, we will create it. One of our clients requested a simple custom mount for his 2025 whitetail. He loved the product and asked for a matching mount for his 2026 bull elk.

Beetles cleaned this stud of a whittail up nice. They do not discriminate. They will crush anything we give them.

Degreasing Skulls — An Often Overlooked Step 🦌

Proper degreasing is critical to producing a clean, bright, long-lasting European mount.

The amount of time required varies by species and individual animal. Bears, for example, typically require much more degreasing than deer, while older animals can also require additional time due to increased grease within the bone.

We use warm, highly concentrated soapy water at approximately 40–50°C to draw grease and oils from the porous bone. Proper degreasing allows the peroxide whitening process to work more effectively and helps prevent yellowing or discoloration over time.

Patience matters — and fresh solution matters. We change the degreasing water regularly and monitor each skull individually until it’s ready for whitening.

A great European mount starts with proper preparation
