Formerly The Tennis Academy, our new name, Aforza, is jam packed full of meaning. It comes directly from the Italian word for strength — forza — and is also inspired by effervescence, which means vivacious, enthusiastic, and bubbly. Bubbly, of course, representing our iconic dome facility that is known as “the bubble”. The name is strong and sporty, but fun — just like us!

This week’s academy update features High Performance junior Matthew Hall! 👏

Matthew first started tennis at the age of 8 at the Glencoe Club when his parents wanted to get him playing more than just hockey. By 10, Matthew decided to make it his main sport and began playing competitively, which led him to train at Aforza. There is no shortage of love for the sport from Matthew, he feels every aspect of the sport is special to him and he always plays striving to be the best.

Some accomplishments Matthew is proud of are qualifying for both indoor and outdoor nationals as well as his success finishing 3rd in singles and 2nd in doubles at the Lil Mo’s international championships in December!

Matthew, your love and desire for the game are both going to take you a long way! Keep chasing your dream ✌️

Congratulations to Robert Oleksiuk on his recent international results on the ITF Masters circuit! Through some of his spectacular play, Robert has increased his ranking to 3rd in Canada and 48th in the world for the 45 and over age group! 😲

Thank you to everyone who joined us Wednesday night for our Year-End Academy Celebration! 🎉

Each year, we host this event to celebrate our weekday players as we head into summer with games, pizza, cake, awards, speeches, an exhibition match and plenty of fun.

A huge thank you to our players, coaches, volunteers, and families for making this season such a success. We are incredibly proud of everything our athletes have accomplished both on and off the court.

A special thank you to Bela Roma for supplying scrumptious cheese pizza for this event.

This week’s academy update features High Performance junior Casper Sztabzyb! 👏

Coming from a tennis family, Casper started playing early at the age of 4 after he couldn’t stand to sit on the side watching his older brother play anymore. Since then he has fallen in love with the idea that no point is given for free and that he must fight every time. That desire is what helped him choose to play competitively, where he chases constant experience to play at an even higher level! Casper lists the competitive atmosphere at Aforza and the push to work harder every day as his favourite part about the club.

Casper is very excited about the direction his game is going. He has seen big improvements in his movement, mental game, and physicality. He also had a very successful trip to Florida in December where he had very close matches against higher rated 7.5 UTR and 8 UTR opponents.

Casper, your passion and excitement for the game is unmatched. You have the ability to accomplish anything you set your eyes on! 👊

Join us for our 5th annual parent/child tournament. This event is a fun way for children and parents/adults to play together and meet new people in a co-ed environment. 🎾🏆

𝙒𝙝𝙤 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧?
Members and non-members are invited. Teams can include both members and non-members. Juniors must be able to play with a regular ball from the baseline. Does your child or parent not play tennis? No problem! You can pair up with a friend and/or family member! Teams must be a child (under the age of 18) and an adult (over the age of 18).

𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙨𝙩?
Registration cost is $53 + GST. Members receive an exclusive discount for this event bringing their registration to $42 + GST.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩?
Elimination draw with first match consolations. All players are guaranteed at minimum of two matches! Teams can be the same gender or mixed. This event will have a minimum of 8 teams and a maximum of 32 teams. Scheduling requests will be considered, but cannot be guaranteed.

Make new friends and create lasting memories for the rest of summer with our Junior Rec Camps! 😊

Aforza Rec Junior Summer Camps are for children between the ages of 10-16 who would either like to learn how to play tennis/padel or improve on their existing ability in these sports.

Our coaches will teach your children the basic skills needed to play these great sports through fun and exciting games and drills.

These camps have an option of morning, afternoon, or full day. Running from June 29th to August 21st, you are not going to want to miss out.
