We provide a safe, inclusive environment to encourage our students to explore the world of dance.

ITD is committed to providing high-quality dance classes in a non-competitive environment. We provide a safe and child-centered environment to encourage our students to explore dance with qualified, nurturing teachers. We believe that a non competitive environment encourages young people to develop a positive self-image as well as a strong sense of community. Along with improving coordination skills and developing muscular awareness, we encourage our students to support their peers and develop their individual sense of expression.

🎵 "5, 6, 7, 8!"

Ever wonder why dancers never start counting at 1?

Here's the secret: music comes in phrases, and in dance we usually work in sets of 8 counts. So when a teacher calls "5, 6, 7, 8," they're really counting the last four beats of the phrase before, so the whole room lands together right on beat 1. It's not a quirky dance tradition, it's how music works, and dance borrowed the habit. 😄

Dancers, you already live this every class. Parents, you've heard it through the studio door about a thousand times. And now, the next time you're watching from the sidelines, you'll know exactly what all that counting means. 🩰

Fair warning though: this knowledge is permanent. You will never listen to a song the same way again.

That is what makes it feel so personal every single time, whether your dancer is performing for a packed room or just running a combo in the studio on a Tuesday afternoon.

Dance practice, whenever your schedule allows 🏠

Did you know we also offer Dancetech Class At Home videos?

Our Bronze and Silver Acro Bundles walk dancers through strength, flexibility, and foundational acro skills step by step, and our pre-recorded Contemporary and Hip Hop classes let dancers learn a full combo from choreographers Jillian Ung and Hunter Jackson, all at their own pace.

They are yours for life once purchased, so they are a great option for extra practice between classes or for dancers who want to explore a style we do not currently offer live.

If your dancer has been a little nervous walking into a new class or a new level this season, that is completely normal 🤗

New teachers, new classmates, new choreography, it is a lot to take in all at once, even for kids who have been dancing for years.

Most nerves ease up within the first few weeks, once the routine starts to feel familiar.

If it is still weighing on your dancer, let your teacher know, we are always happy to help make the studio feel like home a little faster.

The votes are in, or rather, the cards are drawn 🎉

Thank you to every dancer who filled out an “I Am Thankful For” card these past couple of weeks. Reading through them as we took the windows down was honestly the best part of our week.

Congratulations to Nixie on having her card drawn for the prize! And to everyone who took part, thank you for reminding us just how much this community has to be grateful for.

One studio, two paths, the same heart 💛

These days, Invitation To Dance is home to both our long-standing non-competitive division and our competitive team (aka ITDC), now in its sixth season and growing stronger every year.

Whichever path your dancer is on, the values underneath do not change. Confidence built through kindness, a genuine sense of community, and room to grow at your own pace, whether that pace leads to the competition stage or somewhere entirely your own.

Two streams, one studio, one family.

Some families drive right past several other studios to get to us, and honestly, it means the world 💛

The Salter family lives about thirty minutes outside the city, and their two daughters have been dancing with us since they were four years old. Even with studios closer to home, they made the drive because of how much they believed in what our non-competitive division offers, a place to fall in love with dance without the pressure of competition.

“We highly recommend this dance studio,” the family shared, adding that their daughters received excellent technical training alongside real friendships and mentorship along the way.

Thank you for trusting us with your dancers all these years.
