01/04/2021
To our Irish Dancing Friends and Colleagues,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that as of February 1, 2021 we, Andrea Irwin-Jardine and Sarah Irwin-Groenewoud, are retiring as active teachers. The difficulties posed by COVID-19, family obligations, and weighing other responsibilities have brought us to this difficult decision. Although this means that our teaching careers have come to an end, it does not mean that the dance school has come to an end.
Effective February 1, 2021, Fiona O’Neill TCRG and Kelly Hopp TCRG, who are long-standing Irwin teachers, will continue teaching our students and take over the school program. Additionally, Fiona and Kelly will be amalgamating operations with Blakey O’Brien Irish Dance and Barbara Blakey O’Brien ADCRG.
We, along with our mom Finnuala, will be retiring the Irwin School’s name after its 35 year history. But we will continue to stay involved in the Irish dancing community through adjudicating competitions.
We would personally like to thank all the dancers and parents for their amazing support and loyalty over the years. During our many years of teaching and serving the Irish dancing community in Calgary, we have seen great success, made lifelong friends, and left a legacy to be carried on into the future.
Sincerely,
Andrea and Sarah
