When I first heard the news I was in shock. It didnt feel real. The last thing I thought to do was put something on Facebook. Im not really great with these kind of things but someone like this deserves to be honored and remembered.
I am truly sorry to see our good friend go so suddenly. As anyone who met him, even once, knows. Dean was as good as they come. Always in good spirits. Always filled with joy and excitement. Joking around and laughing. He truly embodied the fun atmosphere. He loved this game, and he loved all of us. I still remember the first time Dean came to the club, almost 4 years ago. His eyes lit up like a little kid. He had been playing in a small local league with backyard equipment and to see all the boards and real bags, tablets. He was so taken aback. You could tell he was finding something he was going to love. It definitely helped he got paired up with my dad that night and won the whole thing. I'm so lucky I got to capture the smile he had holding that money and standing up on the podium that night.
From there on Dean and his entire family, Susan especially, became a huge part of our club. They did so many things without ever being asked too. Always trying to help the club grow and feel more like a family. Dean always stayed until the end, even if he was out and helped pack up chairs and tables. Susan always brought chips and snacks from Dean's work and put them out for everyone. They made every night feel a little more homey and I can never show my appreciation for their efforts and presence. This truly hurts.
Dean always called me sensei, he'd always give me a little playful shove if I hit a big shot and when you got paired up with him he gave you 110% and always wanted to play his best. Im going to miss him greatly. Dean was such a great guy. I hope, I know hes playing somewhere right now and having a great time. I know he will be there with us at every event going forward in spirit. Hopefully we can live up to the fun and playful energy he used to bring. We will miss you Dean. Just know how loved you were and rest easy brother.
