Oh the highs and lows of the first round of the season....
Friday was predicted to be cold and miserable, so Brock and Amy sat out practice from the comfort of home.. Chase and Omar set up the digs and waited...
Saturday dawned just as frigid, but dry at least, so the team got to practicing. The mechanical gremlins reared their ugly heads again, just as they had for practice weekend... Chase's bike was acting fuel-staved. After checking it all over, it was determined a rebuild was in order, so no Pro600 this weekend. To make up for that, chase REALLY sent it in Pro Open sprint, finishing 5th, just behind seasoned CSBK pro- racers.
Omar spent the weekend getting more acquainted with his duke and getting his times down. He had a good run in Bott Heavyweight, and he and Brock duked it out Sunday in AM legends. Brock had him for several laps, but Omar passed him back one last time just prior to the checkered!!
Due to poor planning, Amy started tail of the grid in Femme on Saturday, and really wasn't feeling very spicy after a cold and damp practice session. The bug caught after a stellar launch gaining her almost half the grid by turn one.... Qualifying 4th was certainly above where she expected to finish. Sunday's race was a hard fought battle to the end! With all the good-start joo-joo used up, by turn one Amy was 7th and losing ground. Working hard, by half way she was battling for 4th with Amy got her into turn one with the ole banana peel move.... But Kelly pulled a daring outside pass back into one just a few laps later to take it back....it was a great battle, that felt good after a long winter! With 2 laps to go, Amy's endurance was failing, and she finished the race in 5th. Muppet Racing Team, overall, had a "heading in the right direction" kind of weekend and we're looking forward to the battles to come!
