“The better endurance trained, the higher the lactate thresholds.”
That’s what we were always taught.
However, during the last 20 years, I often had to conclude that the lactate thresholds (LTs) of untrained (i.e. not endurance trained) persons were very high.
That was very confusing.
Here, I explain why we might have to reconsider some of our ideas about LTs and the factors that determine endurance performance.
