Anyone missing a rig recently?

So the thing is.... this rig does not have a main attached - it was sold to a young jumper and they brought it in for a rental main luckily.

Whats the chances of someone finding themselves a main and just hooking it up and going for a jump?

We would like to think low but it is not inconceivable.

We would suggest that any time risers are connected that it should be done correctly.

What are your thoughts?

This bloke felt like he could Rigger,
So he sewed with his Nana’s old Singer.
Wrong thread, couldn’t align it,
Old stitching behind it,
Why worry? He still couldn’t figure.

Mee Loft Monthly Maintenance is back.

MMM started in 2010 and has been helping skydivers understand their gear ever since.

After a short break due to life, work, family, nylon, and the general chaos of being human — we’re bringing it back.

Free packing help. Practical maintenance education. Gear chats. Seminars from experienced people across the sport. Beer, pizza, and talking rubbish about crispy nylon and 'No s**t there I was' stories.

We are looking to make sure it is accessible to as many as possible so would love some input from you!

AERODYNE SERVICE BULLETIN SB300426

Aerodyne have released a Service Bulletin to relocate the AAD cutter placement to above the reserve pilot chute. .

For affected Aerodyne Icon systems, this is now listed as MANDATORY and required BEFORE THE NEXT JUMP.

This means affected rigs should not be jumped until the cutter has been relocated.

Identification: Icon sizes 1–5

Affected systems include:

Icon Nexgen

* Models IX-I1 to IX-I5 / S5
* Models IX-I1L to IX-I4L — Icon Long sizes 1–4

Icon Pre-Nexgen

* Models IN-I1 to IN-I5

Serial numbers beginning with either IX for Nexgen or IN for Pre-Nexgen. Examples of both are shown in the pictures in this post.

Mee Loft is still offering the AAD cutter relocation free of charge when booked with a reserve repack.

Send us your rig and we’ll get it turned around as quickly as possible. The reserve repack is charged at the normal retail rate, but the cutter relocation work itself remains FREE.

Another Aerodyne Icon cutter relocation done and dusted.

Flap #1 ➜ Flap #3, as per Aerodyne TB 250122.

Cutter channel tucked neatly under the binding tape for a cleaner, factory-style look.

We’re still offering this free with a reserve repack while we wait for further concrete guidance from Aerodyne.

Given the current well-known discussion around Aerodyne Icons, we appreciate that some owners may want a straightforward pathway to a little extra peace of mind while the broader position continues to develop at both national and international level.

Aerodyne’s 2022 Technical Bulletin described the cutter relocation as recommended, and later manufacturer communication has indicated a further Service Bulletin will be issued to make relocation of the cutter mandatory. At this point in time the offical Service Bulletin page on their website does not have any further updates.

Mee Loft has decided to offer something practical for the benefit of the skydiving community. On Aerodyne Icon systems, we will carry out the relocation of the AAD cutter from Flap #1 (below the Reserve Pilot Chute) to Flap #3 (above the Reserve Pilot Chute) FREE OF CHARGE when the rig is booked with us for a reserve repack.

Repacks will be charged at the normal retail rate. This offer will remain available for those who make a booking via our website until such time as there is updated guidance issued by Aerodyne or until further notice.

We understand that some owners may currently be mid-cycle and not yet due for a repack. For those in that position who would still like to take advantage of this offer for added peace of mind, please note that completing the work will still require a fresh reserve repack to be carried out as part of the process.

For anyone wanting further reassurance, Mee Loft can also provide an additional service of a test activation via AAD cutter once the relocation has been completed. Due to limited numbers of available cutters this is on a first in best dressed basis.

This offer is simply our way of providing a calm, practical option for those who would like it, while the wider process continues to play out.
