Dalara Pastoral is a progressive, family-owned business with a strong reputation for investing in its people, technology and farming systems. Their Blackville property is a large-scale farming operation producing durum and bread wheat, chickpeas, sorghum and cotton, alongside an Angus/Wagyu X cattle enterprise.

The Location
Blackville is located in the Liverpool Plains region of NSW, approximately 70km from Quirindi and 120km from Tamworth. The community has a local public school, with school transport available to surrounding centres including Quirindi, Spring Ridge, Willow Tree and Scone.

The Role
This is a varied role for an experienced Farm Hand with a strong interest in cropping. Working across a 17,200-acre property, including around 8,800 acres of cropping, you’ll be primarily focused on wheat, chickpeas, sorghum and cotton using contemporary no-till and controlled traffic farming systems. You’ll also contribute to the cattle operation, making this a hands-on role with plenty of variety.

You’ll be involved in:
• Operating modern machinery across broadacre cropping programs
• Sowing, spraying, harvesting and general cropping activities
• Supporting cattle operations, including livestock husbandry and handling
• Machinery maintenance and general workshop duties
• Property maintenance and general farm duties

About You
You’re an experienced Farm Hand with a strong interest in cropping who takes pride in your work. You’re practical, reliable and safety focused, with the confidence to work independently and contribute to a team. You’ll have experience with GPS technology, cropping production and cattle, along with good mechanical aptitude. You’ll also be someone who enjoys being part of a close-knit team and family-oriented farming community.

📖 RULE BOOK REFRESHER | ENCOURAGEMENT RIDERS

An Encouragement Rider is a competitor aged 17 years or older who has not won an Encouragement Campdraft or any open-age Campdraft.

For the purpose of this rule, an open-age Campdraft includes:

👉🏼 Maiden
👉🏼 Novice
👉🏼 Open
👉🏼 Ladies

An Encouragement Rider will lose their Encouragement eligibility after:

👉🏼 Winning one (1) Encouragement Campdraft, OR
👉🏼 Winning one (1) open-age Campdraft, OR
👉🏼 Placing three (3) times in open-age Campdrafts

A few important things to remember:

👉🏼 Where you start the weekend is where you stay. If you start the weekend as an Encouragement Rider, you remain an Encouragement Rider for that entire weekend. So, if you win a Campdraft during that weekend and break your Encouragement status, you still compete under Encouragement conditions and wear your helmet for the remainder of that weekend.

👉🏼 If you are 17 years old and have already broken your Encouragement status, you are still required to wear a helmet until you turn 18.

👉🏼 An Encouragement win does not change or break the status of the horse being ridden.

*Updating your status

👉🏼 If you break your Encouragement status through three open-age placings, you need to contact the ABCRA office to have your rider status updated.

👉🏼 If you break your Encouragement status through an open-age win, it is always a good idea to double-check that your status has been upgraded with ABCRA before competing the following weekend.
