This is probably one of the most important and personal videos I’ve made.
I had a stroke.
It was the closest I’ve ever come to dying, and it taught me some lessons I really should have known before I desperately needed them.
One of the biggest was ICE – In Case of Emergency.
Do you know how to access the emergency information on your phone without unlocking it?
More importantly, could somebody else access your emergency contacts if you were unconscious or unable to communicate?
In this video, I talk openly about my stroke, what happened, what I experienced, and some of the things I discovered afterwards that I simply wasn't prepared for.
I also cover some of the practical things you may have to deal with following a stroke, including driving and your licence, recovery, and what to expect afterwards.
But my biggest message is simple:
📱 Learn your phone.
🆘 Learn how to access its emergency features.
👨👩👧👦 Add your ICE emergency contacts.
❤️ Show your family how to do it too.
Don't wait until you're lying in an emergency department—or somebody is desperately trying to help you—to learn how this works.
I did.
And that's why I'm making this video.
