Jeff Summers Football Coaching is a program that focuses on the development of individual ball skills and technical aspects of soccer players between the ages of five through to seventeen. Jeff Summers Football Academy is a coaching program that focuses
on the development of individual ball skills and technical aspects of soccer players between the ages of nine
through to seventeen. has identified
that this age category, FFA
‘Skill Acquisitions’ and ‘Game Training’ phase, is the crucial period for a footballer to develop their
technical skills. During
this time I also played for the Australian School Boy team, which toured both South America
(Copa Kyrie Cup-1995) and South East Asia (1994). In 1995 I represented Australia at the World University
Games held in Fukuoka, Japan. I captained my State team at the Australian Championships and also the ACT Academy of Sport, which competed in the National Youth League, then graduated to playing with the Canberra Cosmos NYL. After retiring from playing I coached at numerous levels ranging from junior club teams and representative
squads to local first grade sides. I also worked for various coaching companies and academies including the world renowned ‘Coerver Coaching Program’, where I was the Northern NSW Regional Director for five
years and included coaching in Tokyo, Japan at the International Coerver Academy. I have also worked as a
Development Officer for the ACT Soccer Federation, Technical Director for the Great Lakes United Vikings Football Club, Midcoast FC NPL and helped establish the special needs football club ‘Rainbow Warriors’ based in Taree. During this time I have identified the need for elite high-quality
coaching opportunities for children who live in rural areas. I felt it was imperative that these players be
exposed to the same coaching opportunities and programs that the children living in urban areas have, in
order for them to build successful careers. This is why I am excited and proud to bring my Academy to the
players of the NSW Mid North Coast. I have developed my curriculum by taking the best and most effective training drills and philosophies from
my many former coaches and mentors, including;
* Former Liverpool player,ACT Academy of Sport Head Coach and former Matilda’s coach Chris Tanzey;
* Australian Institute of Sport and USA national women’s coach Tom Sermani;
* Chelsea FC legend and International Coerver Coaching Technical Director, Charlie Cooke
to name a few. I have also incorporated the most successful aspects of the various coaching academies I have worked for,
and organised them into a steady and logical sequence in order to maximise player development. This,
together with my extensive ongoing research and participation in high quality FFA coaching courses, has
enabled me to develop a high-quality curriculum that consists of current and cutting edge training drills. My
school teaching background and playing history also enables me to comfortably pass on and explain the skills
and techniques that the children are working towards mastering. My positive relationships with leading NSW National Premier League club Blacktown City and other high
level coaches and clubs have proven to be a valuable commodity resulting in former academy players being
offered semi-professional contracts in the short time the academy has been running. We have also had a
number of players selected in various Football Mid North Coast ‘Skill Acquisition’ programs, several junior and senior Queensland, Sydney and Newcastle NPL clubs, Sydney state and National futsal programs and tours, National indigenous tours and more. I look forward to coaching and love working and interacting with children. It’s a great combination. Quite simply, I love football!!!!
