Taking teachers behind the scenes at RSPCA Queensland 🐾
Earlier last week, we took a group of Queensland teachers on a visit they won’t forget in a hurry.
As part of our Ipswich ICONNECT event, our State Manager Andrew Tazelaar facilitated a behind-the-scenes tour of the RSPCA Queensland Animal Welfare Centre at Wacol — made possible through the generous support of Chloe Wienk, Volunteering Services Manager at RSPCA QLD, who opened the doors and walked educators through the facility firsthand.
But this visit was about more than inspiration. It marks an exciting step in our structured volunteering program we’ve been building. One that creates genuine pathways for students to engage with their community through their VET studies.
For students completing qualifications in Active Volunteering and Community Services, this kind of partnership means real placements, real contribution, and real connection to the sector they’re training for. RSPCA Queensland is exactly the kind of community organisation that makes that possible, and we’re grateful to be on this journey with them.
Thanks to Chloe and the wider RSPCA Queensland team for their time and enthusiasm. This is what student-centred vocational education looks like in practice.
Over the next short while we’ll be reflecting on our Queensland ICONNECT Series, and there’s been plenty of great moments and opportunities captured.
