Happy Father’s Day

Today we’re celebrating the dads, stepdads, grandads, uncles, brothers, and all the father figures who show up, cheer loudly, lend a helping hand and remind our kids that they are loved and supported.

Thank you for being in their corner — at dance, at home and everywhere in between.

Yesterday was my 40th birthday — I don’t say that to get birthday wishes, I say it because I went to bed last night knowing that, in my 40th year on the planet, I get the absolute pleasure of doing my most favourite thing — teaching our rural kids dance.

Providing opportunities to kids that otherwise wouldn’t have them. Sharing my deep love and passion for dance and the creative arts with, honestly, some of the most amazing kids ever.

My birthday week started with a visit from a baby goat on our Outreach screen (you had to be there… I squealed, it was so cute 😂) and will finish with a full rehearsal for our very first concert in Condobolin.

Dance 2873 has quadrupled in size in 2026, and as I enter this new decade, my old knees and weird clicky hips will carry me to teach even more incredible rural kids dance.

And when I’m 60, I’ll still love doing this every single day.

A special shoutout to the parent who bought me a sneaky birthday cupcake, and to my incredible Totty seniors who (without any prompting from their mums) bought me a card and wrote in it.

When the kids do something like that, I know that we’re so much more than dance here. No matter where you join Dance 2873 from, we’re family.
