We have a young gun (15 and fast!) on the lookout or a team to do either the bike or run or just the run.

How good were the "Glory Days" of the Eagle Bay Epic?!

We were reminiscing about the event in the office today...

The banter, the good times, the mishaps, the laughs shared with family under the WA sun. (Remember the Le Mans start, the wife carry… and the kids running wild in Junior Survivor?!)

Anyway, our conversation got us feeling all nostalgic. And we thought it could be fun to dig up some photos.

The reason we were thinking about Eagle Bay Epic is because, 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝟐 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞, 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐗𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐀 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚-𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 (𝟐𝟕𝐭𝐡-𝟑𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡).

It’s going to have all the good parts of Eagle Bay Epic, only bigger, with a more international vibe and – dare we say it – more exciting!

𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐦/𝐁𝐢𝐤𝐞/𝐑𝐮𝐧 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐬 in Dunsborough this month!

Athletes, with great races comes great opportunity…

Specifically, in the week leading up to XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championships, there will be free skills sessions (on the race courses) to help you prepare.

These clinics are open to all competitors and will be hosted by certified and friendly coaches (plus some elite XTERRA athletes) so you get all the guidance and support you need to get to race day feeling confident.

Who's coming to Dunsborough for the XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championship later this month?!

We're getting excited to see the WA crew and hear the cries of "West is best!" once again!

Is there any arguing that this is one of the MOST SPECTACULAR outdoor playgrounds on the planet?!

The XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championship with unleash on Dunsborough between March 27-30th.

There are EIGHT different events (including 10KM, 21KM and 38KM trail runs and several triathlon distances for all levels and ages).

How good were the conditions at XTERRA Dunsborough last weekend?

We'll be dreaming about that water colour for many nights to come.

WOW. What a day.

A HUGE congratulations to all the Short Course competitors, Kids and Groms who raced today. You tackled the course with a huge amount of enthusiasm (and athletic prowess), and you've no-doubt inspired many on the sidelines to tackle the challenge next year. (including yours truly!).

Yes, the races might change. But the appetite to push ourselves in nature will always stay strong.

**ANNOUNCEMENT: Eagle Bay Epic Adventure Race to cease, but exciting news is brewing!!**

Rapid Ascent advises that the Eagle Bay Epic Adventure Race scheduled for November 2024 will not take place.

Rapid Ascent acknowledge that the event has run its course due to the diminishing participant numbers and interest in the adventure race format. We debated long and hard about what to do with the event, and with much heartache, our formal decision for 2024 and beyond is to cease the event.

The decision was not made lightly due to the long heritage of the event having been one of the very first events Rapid Ascent conducted as a business 19 years ago! It was very successful for many years – first in Dunsborough, then in Augusta, and on to Eagle Bay for the last four years.

We are proud of the event and wholeheartedly express our appreciation and gratitude to the many thousands of people who participated and supported the event over the years; remembering it as a truly rewarding experience and adventure weekend.

Rapid Ascent would also like to formally thank our loyal sponsors, the City of Busselton, and Tourism Western Australia for their support in making it what it became – the biggest adventure race weekend in Australia!

We understand the disappointment this news may bring to the adventure racing community, our partners and supporters. However know that Rapid Ascent remain committed to delivering exceptional experiences and hope to resume additional off-road races and events held in Western Australia in the near future. So get excited and watch this space…!
