Taking that first step onto the mats isn’t always easy.
For a lot of kids, it means walking into something completely new, learning to be brave, listening, trying again and slowly building confidence along the way.

But somewhere between the warmups, the friendships and the small wins each class, something starts to change.
What once felt scary becomes exciting. What felt hard becomes rewarding.

Learning to slow down.

In our kids classes at SJJA Cronulla, we sometimes take a moment to sit, breathe, close our eyes, and reset. It’s a simple way to introduce meditation and mindfulness to the kids.

Learning how to slow down, focus on their breathing, and be present can be a powerful skill for early childhood. It helps build concentration, emotional control, and confidence both on and off the mats.
