Chix Surf School Chix Surf Coaching is an all women progressive school aim to improve surfing ability & ocean awareness.

Hi everyone welcome to Chix Surf School, we are an all girls, all ages, all levels surf school aimed at improving and developing your surfing ability using not just board technique but also combining it with ocean education so that you are able to feel confident and safe in any surf conditions. Surfing is not just about standing on your surfboard but understanding the ocean and what is going on un

derneath your board. We are about building the girls surfing community so that there are more fun, happy girls out there giving it a go. Our motto is "the best surfer isn't the one catching the most waves, its the one with the biggest smile on their face" so come have a lesson with us and see what all the fun is about.

Why do we push our clients???

I dont push many clients onto waves anymore. There is a time and a place for assisting a student to help them get the feel of what they need to do.

As most of my clients are low intermediate and up, I am always working with women who already have worked hard on building the skills they already have.

But one skill I notice is a common theme among many women who are learning as adults not as kids is..

The timing of the paddle to master a range of unbroken waves.

This can feel like something you never will get right, or that everyone just says 'paddle harder' or 'paddle faster' and the one i love the most is

You paddles (insert number here) time and you will get the wave 🤦🏼‍♀️.

The trick to paddling onto any wave is your build up.

What this means is: as you see a wave coming towards you, start to paddle and as the wave gets closer then your paddle needs to get fast until...

Your paddle is at the same speed as the wave!!!

If your in a higher tide then its more of a build up as it takes a while for the wave to form hitting the sand bank, if its a lower tide then its a shorter, faster paddle as the wave hits the sandbank or shallow area quicker.

Understanding your ability to paddle and what speeds you can create is really important for wave selection and also equipment selection.

Being able to show a student the speed they need to create is important. It allows them to get a feel of the momentum they have to feel for to allow the paddle to feel right.

With understanding your skills, your environment and your equipment your able to have a more successful session.

This year I made a conscious decision to take a little step back for a few reasons

• Finishing my Online Program
• Recover & injury rehabilitation
• Focus more on development coaching
• New programs & website
• Much needed time with family
• Getting married 😉
• Clinics & private coaching trips

Next year will be a big year of changes for Chix, offering so many new incredible things for women to help understand this beautiful sport we love.

Look out 2027 we are coming in strong 💜

I am so excited to let you all know that we finally have our very own Chix Surf School Onland Surf trainer customised model.

Teaming up with the crew at Surf Trainer to come out with these 2 colour ranges and they have turned out even better that I imagined 😍

We have had a crazy responce to the sales online, in the shops and also internationally with all the boards selling out in the first order but we have a bunch more and are so stoked you all want to rep the brand.

The boards are available via the SmoothStar Australia website so make sure you go check them out.

With such an incredible next generation of young ripper Chix coming through I am going to bring out a smaller board range so the girls have a Surf trainer just for them.
