The Movement Academy believes that every human is physically elite and deserves access to superior movement coaching that unlocks their physical potential and helps them discover what they can do with their body. Our state of the art facility provides the opportunity for those with a passion for enhanced movement to access that superior coaching. No matter where you are on your physical journey, we will support you in your pursuit for strength, mobility, performance and quality by combining methods from many and varied practices including acrobatics, aerial arts, circus, calisthenics, gymnastics and dance. NEW HOURS / MORE MOVEMENT 😎

Your movements have been changing, so we've adjusted our opening hours to match, and to put our resources to better use. But it doesn’t mean less movement…

TMA is trialling ‘out of hours’ training as an optional add-on to your membership.

Please email [email protected] to find out more and get set up.

The change won't affect any scheduled classes… some will simply keep running outside our new hours, just like they already do.

A reminder that open training is still available any time during opening hours, up to 3 hours every day, which now includes Sunday!

Make full use of our facility and equipment, or bring your own apparatus to rig up on any of our 15 adjustable points.

No need to book. Just note that space is limited to areas not in use for classes at any given time. Please check the timetable or chat to our staff for availability.

Dear Mover,

The passion, care and generosity that flowed through the funding campaign to keep The Movement Academy moving has been overwhelming.

Creating something that people love is an honour. Being asked to continue working on it is a gift. Thank you.

I have something to share that you will never find on the website or in any of our communications… The “why?” behind The Movement Academy.

Like many in our community, I grew up being the last one picked at sport, the last to cross the finish line, and the last that anyone would have predicted to have a career in the ‘fitness’ industry.

I resented my body; I believed that it wasn’t athletic, and it definitely didn’t look like the guys in the coke ads on tv. The advertising and fitness industries had a choke hold on my self esteem. Until they didn’t…

… because I discovered acrobatics. My entire life changed. The more I focused on achieving things that I hadn’t even dreamed of, the rest of my life began to fall into place. And most importantly, I found a family of friends that enrich my life to this day, and are integral to the The Movement Academy and its community.

In 2015, someone encouraged me to pass that gift on to my personal training clients… TMA began just months later.

The diversity and inclusivity fostered within this community over almost 11 years is like nothing that I have experienced in other parts of my life. I am so grateful to be part of a community of like minds, who see the benefits of a positive, creative and curious relationship with our bodies.

That shared feeling has always given me purpose - you have helped me pour petrol on that flame. I will honour that gift.

(without petrol, because it’s expensive and harmful to nature)

This is all of ours... everyone who backed it, shared it, messaged, email, chatted, showed up, or simply believed it could happen.

The love and care that's poured down on TMA this past week, from this community, really makes it feel like the beginning of Spring; a fresh start.

The Pozible campaign ends at 4pm tomorrow (Friday), so please enjoy sitting in this moment, and there'll be more updates, more thanks, and more love coming as the glitter settles.

We've now raised $60,401 of our $89,000 target!

Thank you for everything you are bringing to keep The Movement Academy standing for years/yours to come.

Here's a small tour behind the scenes of our architecture, engineering, rigging and design that's turning TMA 2.0 from a plan into a home. Some of it is finished, some of it is still to come.

To be very clear on what this campaign is for… it's not funding what’s left to build… you are keeping The Movement Academy doors open by helping us catch up from over a year of loan repayments that funded all of this.

I am very grateful to the army of professionals who've poured skill and care into this vision. It's been built properly, safely (at TMA we know that safety is sexy) and designed with a deep consideration for the movers who use the space, and how they like to use it.

The deadline is 4pm Friday, and this is all-or-nothing.

If we don't reach $89,000 by then, I will have to terminate our lease, and we will be given notice to vacate. Our landlord can’t confirm how long that notice would be, but they have been kind and understanding whilst working through this with me.

We are so close. If you've been sitting on the fence, this is the moment ❤️

Dear Mover,

This is Brendan here, the founder and director of The Movement Academy for almost 11 years.

I'm going to be very transparent with you, because that's how I'd want to be treated… The Movement Academy is behind on rent, and I need to raise $89,000 by 28 August to keep us open.

Funding the relocation in July last year was always going to be a challenge, but I was on track until two pieces of hard news in May sent TMA into a financial downward spiral. A long term payment arrangement for rent was the only saving grace, but now that I have failed that arrangement, the full amount owing is due.

I want to be clear about what's actually at stake: if we don't reach this target, TMA will not be able to continue operating. I understand that this news will bring up many different feelings, and I am truly sorry.

I have launched a Pozible funding campaign, but I am not asking for handouts. What I'm offering instead is for you to back the studio in exchange for something real… spending credit, exclusive experiences, memberships and of course to be recognised as one of the people who helped keep this place standing when it mattered.
