Today is both R U OK? Day and World Su***de Prevention Day.

For me, these are not celebratory days. They carry sadness, memories and experiences that are very real. But they are important days for awareness, for starting conversations and for reminding people that it is okay to ask for help.

Su***de has touched my life personally. I have lost one of my best friends to su***de, and I have also experienced dark days of my own when I have needed support to step back from the edge.

I share this today because these conversations matter, and checking in with someone and taking the time to genuinely listen can make a difference. Sometimes simply reminding another person that they are not alone can be more meaningful than we realise.

Sending a virtual hug to anyone who needs one today. Please take care of yourself, and take care of each other.

I almost didn’t share this video because it felt a little too personal and raw.

I’m a qualified yoga teacher, but right now I’m not teaching. I’m attending classes, practising at home and experiencing yoga as a student again.

There’s something vulnerable about admitting that, particularly when teaching has been such an important part of how I’ve understood myself. But yoga was part of my life before I became a teacher, and it is still part of my life when I’m not standing at the front of a room.

At the moment, my practice is quieter. It’s showing up to class and allowing someone else to guide me. It’s rolling out my mat at home when I feel like it. It’s noticing my body, my breath and what I need that day.

Maybe there are seasons for teaching and seasons for learning. This is a season where I’m allowing myself to be the student.

And perhaps sharing the parts that feel a little raw is part of the practice too.

A lovely surprise arrived in the mail today. Daisy Chains and Butterflies, a memoir written by fellow HeartWriting student Jade Michelle.

There is something particularly special about holding a book written by someone you have shared part of your writing journey with. I’m looking forward to taking this one down to the beach, finding a sunny spot and settling in for my new beach read.

Congratulations, Jade, on bringing your story into the world. I can’t wait to read it.

Happy first day of spring. 🌱

A new season feels like a beautiful invitation to notice joy again. Not necessarily the big, spectacular kind, but the joy that already exists in small moments, new growth, warmer light, music, movement and connection.

This quote from the Upanishads felt like the perfect way to welcome spring: a reminder that joy can be something we create from, live through and return to.

Here’s to dancing with a little more joy this spring. 🌼

I’ve been thinking about authenticity and what it means when you have spent years learning how to mask parts of yourself.

Masking can make it difficult to know where adaptation ends and your authentic self begins. What do I actually enjoy? What do I need? How do I naturally communicate, move, rest and create when I am not trying to meet someone else’s expectations?

For me, authenticity is not about uncovering one fixed, “true” version of myself. It is about becoming curious about what feels natural, what feels forced and what I might be ready to let go of.

Next week on Substack, I’m exploring authenticity, masking and the gradual process of getting to know yourself.

It’s National Dog Day in Australia!

Dogs and yoga have more in common than you might think. Both invite us to be present, to listen to what we need and to find joy in the simple things.

Dogs stretch when their bodies tell them to stretch. They rest when they need rest. They play wholeheartedly, follow their intuition and rarely worry about whether they are doing life the “normal” way.

These are values I am trying to bring more deeply into my own life and into Kind Time Studio: intuition, creativity, patience and nurturing, while letting go of the pressure to be normal.

Maybe our dogs have been practising yoga all along.
