Are your toes gripping for dear life?
Take a look down next time you’re balancing, standing or pushing against the Reformer footbar. Are your toes resting long against the surface - or curling as though they’re trying to hold on?
Our toes are meant to be active. But persistent gripping can be a sign that your body is searching for stability. You may be shifting your weight forward, relying too heavily on one part of the foot or compensating for limited control elsewhere.
That’s why simply being told to “relax your toes” doesn’t always work.
At Pilates Connection, we look at how pressure is distributed through the whole foot and how the ankles, knees, hips and trunk are contributing. We can then adjust the support, resistance, position or exercise to help your body find a more efficient strategy.
Because better balance isn’t about gripping harder - it’s about sharing the work.
Curious about your balance, posture or mobility? Let’s assess it together.
