Tough night out for the club at the 18th edition of Paddo Punch On. When we said we were going for 3-for-3, we assumed that everyone knew we had our sights set on winning, but someone missed the memo and we had the script flipped on us instead.
First cab off the rank was Alex, who was making his debut against another skilled operator. He had a stellar first round, but his opponent bit down on his gumshield to have a comeback in the second with the third being competitive, but not enough to get the nod from the judges. Alex has hinted at moving up from 70kg to 75kg in his next outting, which we look forward to being a part of.
Next up was Webster, who also had a solid showcase of skills in his first round, but lost the second after a knockdown was ruled against him (a trip, he says!) which turned the tide of the round. For the final stint he came out and got after it, but it was not enough in the eyes of the three people sitting ringside.
Last one on the chamber was Jen, who was matched against an experienced opponent she was familiar with from previous sparring sessions. The first round was a back-and-forth affair with both ladies throwing punches in bunches, though her opponent's use of distance management proved to be too much over the course of the three rounds.
Despite it not being their nights, all three contestants came out with high spirits and are looking to forward to jumping in again with a few more wrinkles added to their game!
Thanks to the the gang at for putting on a great event as usual and you will see us again very soon!
