I competed In my first amateur boxing event. It was a great experience and a-lot of fun. However, after finding out the tragedy that happened to Luis, who was on only two fights after mine, you can’t really feel happy or excited.

Tribute Boxing ran an extremely professional event with fighter safety being the top priority this included:

- Sanctioned by the Victorian amateur boxing league.
- Doctors clearance
- Blood tests
- Concussion course we had to undertake to get licensed.
- Many medical professionals on site
- Official weigh-ins

thoughts and prayers are with Luis’s family and friends and the broader Tribute boxing community.

Is it your responsibility as a father to be fit and healthy? I’m not talking about having a six pack or being able to run marathons.

But I truly believe it’s a responsibility of the father to be a provider. Providing is more than just financial it’s lessons it’s play it’s being an example. Studies show that children have the highest levels of serotonin, when physically playing with their dad, and cuddling with their mums.

Therefore, I believe to be a good dad. You should be striving for enough fitness for physical play with your kids.

Growing up, I couldn’t tell you what car my dad drove, but I remember vividly going surfing and skiing with him. And I can’t wait to do that with my boy.
