*** Melbourne Cup Preview ***
Here it is. The first Tuesday of November. The race that stops the nation. The race that catches the eye of everyone, not just the usual punter. Enjoy the day and soak up the glory of Australian Racing. Here are the tips in order
#2 - INCENTIVISE $2.80 - No prizes for guessing that this horse may just be the best in the country and will be for a couple of years to come. An impressive 5YO who has been faultless this preparation. An out and out stayer who is a deserved favourite. It’s hard to take short $2.80 odds but there is no denying he’s a dead set freak at the moment. A Might And Power like display in the Caulfield Cup shows all systems go for today. Play other horses below at the E/W prices, but he needs to be respected as the top tip
#9 - SELINO $51/$13 - Well here is a roughie that I think is better than the price suggests. One of few runners who is proven over 3200m, winning the Sydney Cup early in the year. Chris Waller has made the tactical decision to bring Rob Stewart down to Melbourne for one ride. He was successful on this horse in his only attempt in Sydney’s two mile race. His races this prep have suggested he needs further and at the odds, include in the exotics.
#24 - SIR LUCAN $24/$6 - An import now trained by G*i and Adrian having his first start in Australia. A young 3YO however plenty of upside. Has shown talent in his overseas starts. Hard to line up the form however all reports from in house have been positive. Light weight in the hands of Bossy, you cannot rule out G*i and her ability to get a horse fit on Grand Final day. The unknown about this horse is drawing me towards having a wager. Will run a cheeky race
#4 - VERRY ELLEEGANT $17/$5 - This mighty mare has already proven herself as a champion, and at these odds, how can you not entertain? I don’t think we will ever see her this far out in the market so it’s worth a play. Although her form this prep has been up and down, she hasn’t been putting horses away or shown complete dominance in her races. To me, this suggests that maybe she’s looking for further and this year she might be better off at 3200m compared to last year. JMAC back on board is a big tick.
