LTFA Person of the Month β Aug 2026 β Lucas ("Mr. Rutho")
Anyone who has had the pleasure of coaching Lucas, aka, Mr. Rutho, knows just how passionate this young boy is. Whatever challenge is put in front of him, he wants to understand it, apply it to the best of his ability, and have a go without any fear of failure. As coaches, that is incredibly refreshing because Lucas reminds us that making mistakes isn't something to avoid - it's simply part of learning and getting better.
One of the greatest joys of coaching Mr. Rutho is his attitude. Whether it's sunshine, rain, wind, or anything else that would normally give someone an excuse to complain, it never seems to faze him. He arrives each session with the same smile, same enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. He's reminds you just how fortunate you are to coach children, because everything you teach him is met with curiosity, effort, and a genuine desire to improve.
Lucas never loses sight of why we play football in the first place β to have fun. He embraces every activity with energy and excitement, always looking to become a little better than he was the week before. That mindset is exactly why, at our Holiday Camp, Lucas received the LTFA Outstanding Learner Award. It was a fitting reflection of the commitment he always brings.
Lucas has graduated from our TOTS Program to 6&7s with flying colours. Watching him transfer those early foundations into a more competitive environment has been incredibly rewarding. His ability to move with the ball, involve himself in the game, and encourage his teammates is a testament not only to his football development, but to the young boy he is becoming β humble, hardworking, and always willing to learn.
Mr. Rutho, thank you for the positivity you bring to LTFA every single week. Your smile, curiosity, and commitment to improving make you a joy to coach and a wonderful teammate to those around you. We are grateful to have you as part of the LTFA family.
Keep being yourself, Lucas. If you continue approaching life with the same passion, humility, and willingness to learn, your momentum will carry you wherever you go.
We are so proud of you Mr Rutho.
