Sunday was race day at Blanchetown Dirt Kart Club for the Junior Trophy Day 🌧🏁
What a challenging day of racing with wet, muddy, slippery conditions right from the first heat.
Heat 1 saw Marcus start from P7, but after avoiding another kart and running wide into the loose stuff, he dropped back to P11 before fighting his way back to finish P9.
Heat 2 started from P6, but contact on the opening lap badly bent the steering column and dropped Marcus back to P8. He pushed through the damage to finish P7 before a quick steering column change back in the pits.
Heat 3 was all about survival on an extremely muddy track. Starting from P13, Marcus struggled with mud-covered tear-offs that wouldn’t come off, and wiping the visor only made visibility worse. With no vision, he unfortunately ran off track, ending the race with a DNF.
Heat 4 was a huge turnaround. Starting from pole position, Marcus drove a great race and held the lead for most of it before finishing in a strong P3.
For the Final, we were due to start from P8 and were feeling confident after making a few changes to the kart. Unfortunately, the weather stepped in again, with heavy rain forcing the final to be cancelled.
Not the results we were chasing, but plenty of positives to take away from a tough day of racing. Marcus kept pushing all day, never gave up, and showed great determination in difficult conditions.
Now it’s time to clean everything up, regroup, and get ready for the next race meeting 💪🏁
