Today our Kuulang family celebrates one of our own. 🖤❤️💛

A massive congratulations to Coach Steve Lawrence on being recognised by Netball NSW as the Hyundai Netty Legend of the Month.

What makes this recognition so special for us is that Kuulang was built from a vision of connection, culture, opportunity and community. Steve created Kuulang to give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players a place to feel proud, supported and strong in who they are while playing the game they love.

From long training nights, travelling to carnivals, mentoring young people and creating opportunities for players and coaches, Steve continues to lead with passion and heart every single day.

This recognition is not just for one person, it reflects the spirit of what Kuulang stands for culture, family, respect and community.

We are incredibly proud of you Coach Steve and thankful for everything you do for our kids, families and community. ❤️🖤

And the exciting news is… Kuulang is back again in 2026!

We’re looking to build our teams again this year and continue growing something special for our young people and community. If you or someone you know is interested in being involved as a player, coach, supporter or volunteer, please reach out to the page so we can start building our squads.

Congratulations to Steven Lawrence from Singleton Netball Association, our Hyundai Netty Legend of the Month.

We’re continuing the 2026 Netty Legend of the Month program, now supported by Hyundai, celebrating the volunteers who are the heartbeat of grassroots netball across NSW.

Steve stepped into netball with no prior experience, inspired by his daughters’ love of the game, and has since grown into a respected coach, mentor and community leader across the association.

Passionate about inclusion and culture, Steve also created the Koori program “Kuulang,” establishing two teams focused on celebrating culture, connection, community and team spirit through netball.

His commitment has seen him appointed as a Development Coach, and he now also serves as Coaching Convenor.

Today, five of our girls were honoured with an invitation to take part in the 2025 Netball NSW First Nations Camp, an incredible opportunity provided by Netball NSW to celebrate culture, connection, and high-performance netball.

The day began with cultural activities, allowing the girls to deepen their understanding of thier traditions, and identity. They then moved into a series of warm-ups and skill development sessions, guided by head coach Kellyanne Huggins and invited coaches. The camp wrapped up with a series of high-energy games, giving the girls a chance to put their new skills into action and enjoy the spirit of the sport.

We were also proud to have our coach Steve in attendance. Throughout the day he was mentored by Kellyanne Huggins, the head coach for the camp and current Assistant Coach of the NSW Waradas. Her expertise, leadership, and cultural guidance made the day even more special for both our players and coaching staff.

This was an unforgettable experience for our girls, one that strengthened their connection to culture, enhanced their netball development, and filled them with pride.

We’re excited to see how they bring their learning back to the community and continue to grow on and off the court.

❤️🖤❤️ Massive Congratulations to Our Kuulang Netball Stars! ❤️🖤❤️

We are beyond proud to announce that four of our amazing players , Savannah Sproule, Indi-Lee Penfold, Tilly Burgess, and Bethan Gillane , have been invited to attend the First Nations Talented Athletes Program in Maitland! 🎉🏐

These talented young women were identified and scouted by Netball NSW through their campaign this year, which included three carnivals, the final one being a two-day event held in Charlestown by Netball NSW. Their hard work, dedication, and talent have truly paid off! 💪

They’ll now have the incredible opportunity to attend an intensive two-day camp in Maitland, with one session in November and another in February.

This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support, teamwork, and commitment of all their Kuulang teammates. Every player’s effort, encouragement, and spirit throughout the season helped lift each other to this level. It’s a true reflection of what we can achieve when we work together as one strong community, pushing and celebrating each other along the way. 🙌

This is an amazing achievement not only for these players but also for Kuulang Netball, especially in our first year of running the program! We’ve started strong and are excited to continue building and creating even more opportunities for Indigenous athletes to excel and shine. 🌞

And it’s not just the players a huge shout-out to our Under 13s coach, Steve Lawrence, who has also been recognised for his outstanding efforts and will attend the camp to learn from some of the best coaches in the business. 👏

❤️🖤❤️Congratulations and best wishes to all involved, we couldn’t be prouder of your achievements and can’t wait to see what’s next!
