Congratulations 2 Luca

Congratulations to Luca and her doubles partner Tatiana. They entered the Northumberland Junior Development Series Regional Matchplay series today playing singles against the boys in Tier1. Both girls played in the round robin with the Tier 1 boys and played really well. Luca won all of her matches except for one against the boy who went on to win the boys division. Well done Luca (& Tatiana).

Meet our Member - the 'still kicking' Terry Horn

I started playing tennis when I was 14 because I saw my mates playing and I wanted to join them. I have loved the game ever since and never looked back. I played consistently for many years, reaching A grade and one year I won the open doubles club championships with Stephen Cox.

Over the years I've played many different sports including rugby union, squash and basketball but I've never stopped playing tennis. Well, I never stopped playing tennis until recently... I was diagnosed with kidney cancer and had to have one of my kidneys removed. I am now doing well and have 3 monthly check ups. This has slowed me down temporarily but I plan to be back playing as as soon as my doc gives the OK.

My favourite shot is my forehand but I do also love to hit the ball as hard as I can, even if it doesn’t go in! 😃. My most frustrating shot is my backhand. My mates say my best shot is sledging them! 😃

I’m married to Karen and we will celebrate 40 brilliant years next year. We met at the Singleton Heights take away and have two daughters and three grandkids.

Life is good.

Help needed, 9am Sat 29 Oct 2026
At our last couple of working bees the turn out has been poor 😞😔
But, the good news is, you can change this, by coming along to our Working Bee this Saturday at 9am😃😃. Everyone is welcome. We have jobs for everyone😀.
You can come for the whole morning or just for an hour or two.
Looking forward to turning the tide and seeing you on Saturday!

Meet the Members - Stephen Cox

I use to live across the road from the courts at Albion Park. I started playing tennis when I was eight years old. My mother and father and sister all played, so it was only natural to join them. I use to play all the time and won the open club singles championships once and won the open doubles championships several times with my tennis mate Terry Horn.

I love the social aspect of tennis, the friendships you make and Craig and Terry tell me I used to love the girls I met at tennis 😊

For many years a team of us represented the club at the country championships in Sydney. This was a good standard, so we were very happy when we won the second division championships. My favourite shot is volleying and Craig tells me I placed the ball well.

My tennis came to a heart stopping moment 2 years ago when I was on the court and had a heart attack. I can’t remember this but know that I was resuscitated by my wonderful tennis friends right here on court 10. I am married to Nicole and have two great kids who are very thankful I was resuscitated – at least I hope they are!😊

Thank you to the wonderful team from Tennis NSW for coming out and helping deliver the Todd Woodbridge cup on Tuesday. Congratulations to all the players that came along to represent their school and wish the winning teams good luck in the next round.
