Today, the flags came down for the final time this season ❤️💛

What a season it’s been. Every Saturday and Sunday and the summer public holidays, our incredible volunteers have shown up to keep our community safe — watching over swimmers, carrying out countless preventative actions, and always ready when needed most.

But it’s been so much more than patrols.

We’ve spent time getting to know the familiar faces who visit Suttons Beach, shared plenty of laughs, trained hard, and created memories that will stick with us for years to come. We’ve had fun with our Nippers, supported our SSG swimmer friends, and proudly provided first aid support to our returned veterans at the Sandgate dawn service just to name a few things from a busy season.

Through it all, lifelong friendships have been formed and strengthened — and that’s what makes this so special.

To every volunteer: thank you. Your time, commitment, and heart do not go unnoticed. Enjoy a well-earned rest.

We can’t wait to see you all back on the beach next season 🌊

To our friends at Metropolitan Caloundra Surf Life Saving Club, we stand with you in this time of loss. Joe was more than an important part of your club and the wider community, he was one of us, a fellow Surf Life Saver. It’s through that unspoken bond that all lifesavers are connected, our club feels your loss deeply.

While we cannot take away your pain, please know that you do not stand alone. We stand beside you in your grief.

Redcliffe sends our heartfelt thoughts and support to everyone at Metropolitan Caloundra during this difficult time. 💛♥️

The Emily Robins Under 14 Lifesaver of the Year Award was created to celebrate a very special moment in our club’s history — when Emily (right) was named the 2023 Queensland U14 Junior Lifesaver of the Year.

This award recognises an Under 14 who represents the very best of what surf lifesaving stands for — commitment, leadership, teamwork, and a willingness to always put others first.

Today, Emily presented the award for the first time ever to Millicent Hunter.

Millicent is a young leader who brings energy, positivity and heart to our beach every Sunday.

Her dedication is incredible, with 100% Nipper Sunday attendance, strong leadership as a Nipper Captain, and proudly representing our club at State and National level in R&R.

From supporting fellow nippers to encouraging a swimmer to finish the Moreton Bay Swim, she truly embodies the spirit of surf lifesaving.

Millicent is a wonderful role model with a bright future ahead. Congratulations, Millie 🌊❤️💛

The feral weather didn’t stop us saluting our U14s as they ran on to the beach for their last time as a Nipper. 🤍🖤❤️

Yesterday, we recognised Red and Yellow Day — a Surf Lifesaving initiative that raises awareness about the importance of swimming between the flags. ❤️💛

We’re proud to have two patrolling members in our school community: Mrs Simpson from Bribie Island Surf Life Saving Club and Aaron in Year 11, who patrols with Redcliffe Surf Life Saving Club.

They wore parts of their patrol uniforms to celebrate surf lifesaving and help spread this important safety message — always swim between the flags!

Thank you for helping keep our beaches safe. 🌊
