ππ THE BLUE BAND INITIATIVE STARTS THIS WEEK ππ
Port Stephens Netball Association is proud to launch the Blue Band Initiative as part of our commitment to creating a more inclusive and accessible netball community.
The Blue Band Initiative supports players who may require adjustments to participate confidently and successfully in our competitions. Players participating under inclusive netball rules will wear a blue wristband, helping umpires identify when approved adjustments may be applied during play.
Examples of adjustments may include:
π Allowing players to hold the ball for up to 6 seconds.
π Permitting additional foot movement when receiving or passing the ball.
π Adjusting court positioning or pace to suit individual needs.
π Additional guidance from umpires where appropriate.
The Blue Band Initiative is built on four key principles:
π€ Inclusivity β Everyone is welcome.
π‘οΈ Safety β Supporting participation in a safe environment.
βοΈ Fairness β Equitable opportunities for all players.
π Respect β Understanding and supporting individual needs.
At Port Stephens Netball, we believe netball is a game for everyone. The Blue Band Initiative helps ensure all players have the opportunity to participate, belong and enjoy our sport.
Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive netball community.
