Banksia is the home of Camp Banksia and the Banksia Centre in Port Sorell. Nestled into a six hectare bush setting it caters for pre-booked school, sport, community, church, business, and family groups for accommodation or group hire. Banksia is adjacent the popular Freers beach, a cycle way, golf course and nature reserve. It is a 10 minute walk to local shops and a 15 minute drive to Devonport.
There are two accommodation hubs sleeping up to 38 people broken down in to six rooms of 6 and 1 room of 2 (76 beds total). As part of the redevelopment, the Blackwood cabins were retained, these are five separate cabins sleeping 6 people in each (30 beds total). These cabins have their own sets of showers and toilets. All guests must supply their own bedding, towel and all toiletries. The Dining Hall and function room is a large sunny building also well suited to conferences and seminars. The hall can seat 160 for catering purposes or 200 in a conference setting. Camp Banksia offers a catering service via partnership with an external provider. Alternatively, the new Camp Kitchen can be hired for self-catering. On site is a sports oval, tennis courts, pump bike track, basketball courts and a public play space including a BBQ shelter and public toilets. The Banksia Centre is available for hire to the public. This facility consists of a full-sized indoor basketball stadium (volleyball, netball and badminton available as well), 2 meeting rooms, kitchen and the multi-purpose Rubicon Room with AV system including an 8x5m projector screen and sporting equipment.
