Icebergers had their 10th Birthday at Port Melbourne today. Over 40 swimmers and partners brought cakes galore and even some poetry to read about the event.

‘Twas ten years ago, so I’m told
Some locals, both handsome and bold
Began the tradition
Without inhibition
To swim without fear of the cold

It’s at dawn, legend has it, they gather.
And swim between poles, open slather.
These burgers of ice
I’m told they’re quite nice
But their chit chat is total blather.

Despite the unpleasant smell
Our numbers continue to swell
So come down to the beach
Join in, all and each
We’re a friendly bunch, give us a yell.
