It is so wonderful to see the bridleless competition running in England. These are well trained horses being allowed to move as nature intended, not being forced into false frames

Most people who love riding really want to create a strong connection with their horse.

This is very similar to making a friend. Which is why horses can help people to develop better social skills

You need to listen and acknowledge when your horse says no, or shows signs they are struggling with something you are asking. This helps to build trust. You can then make changes to what you are asking, maybe be clearer with your introduction or break them down to make it simpler for the horse to understand.

You need to be present. Yes this means being there regularly with them and spending to e with them, but it also means being I. The moment when you are with them and not being distracted.

Also no one likes a friend who only turns up when they want something. So make sure the only time you get your horse out, isn’t when you want to ride. Get them out for a groom, a massage or for a walk I hand to eat grass. This way your horse will want to see you

Love this so important for training a horse and set them up for success.

However this also applies to us as humans. When we prioritise a calm regulated nervous system ethic g else falls into place.

This is what our therapeutic sessions focus on.

Before anything else…

For me, a relaxed and regulated nervous system is the foundation of everything.

I want to see a horse that feels safe in its body, able to breathe, soften and truly use itself correctly.

From there we can begin to build posture with strength, balance and longevity in mind - not just for today, but for years to come.

True muscle development comes from correct function, not force.

From stability, not tension.

From understanding, not shortcuts.

Functionality over flash will always be my priority.

Because when the foundations are solid, progression becomes sustainable, honest and far more rewarding.

The basics are never boring. They are what create the horse underneath everything else. 🤍
