Hearing is not listening.
Speaking is not communicating.

Humans listen for about seven seconds before we start formulating our own response.

We’re no longer trying to understand, we’re preparing to defend, explain, fix or prove.

And men and women often communicate differently. Women may speak to connect and process; men may listen for the problem they’re supposed to solve.

Neither is wrong, but without understanding the difference, one feels unheard while the other feels like nothing they say is right.

Real communication starts when we stop preparing our response and get curious about what the other person is actually trying to say.

Bulls**t.

A coach can have experience.
They can recognise the terrain.
They can help you avoid a few unnecessary faceplants.

But they cannot do your work.

Because this isn’t about following someone else’s perfectly packaged path.

It’s about having the support to find your own.
To meet your own edges.
To make your own decisions.
To remember who the fck you are.

A good coach doesn’t ask you to become them.

They help you become more of you.
