For more than two decades, Sue Dick has been one of the most dedicated and inspiring figures in the history of Lugarno Football Club. Sue’s service is distinguished not only by its longevity, but by the breadth and depth of her impact across every part of the club.
Sue has been involved with Lugarno FC for over 20 years, contributing continuously and with impact. She has served on the Lugarno FC Committee, demonstrating exceptional reliability, and a willingness to step into any role required to support the club’s members and operations.
Her sustained commitment over two decades places her among the longest‑serving volunteers in the club’s history.
Across her tenure, Sue has held multiple major club committee positions, often simultaneously, including:
• President
• Secretary
• Female Liaison Officer
• Canteen Manager
• Public Officer
She has been central to canteen operations, ensuring a welcoming, family‑friendly matchday environment, volunteer coordination, mentoring new committee members and strengthening the club’s volunteer culture.
Her involvement as President and Secretary was particularly influential during periods of significant club growth, when the club experienced major increases in female participation.
Sue has been one of the region’s strongest advocates for female football. Her contributions include long‑standing involvement in coaching and managing girls’ teams, helping build participation pathways and a supportive environment for young female players.
Serving as Lugarno FC’s delegate to Football St George (FSG), ensuring the club’s female football priorities were represented at association level. She has been an active membership on the FSG Female Football Committee, contributing to regional strategy, policy development, and initiatives aimed at growing the women’s game.
Her involvement has directly supported the expansion of girls’ football across the St George district and has helped establish Lugarno FC as a leader in female participation.
Her ability to manage high‑pressure operational responsibilities while maintaining warmth, professionalism, and approachability is widely recognised.
Sue’s impact has been acknowledged publicly at major club and community events. including at Lugarno FC’s 60th anniversary celebrations in 2022. Later that year Sue was inducted the Life Member ranks of Lugarno FC for exceptional service to the club.
Her work has been recognised beyond Lugarno FC, earning her prestigious honours including the Banks Community Volunteer Club Award and the Football St George Club Volunteer Award, representing formal acknowledgements of her service to football and the wider community.
