Lugarno Football Club is excited to launch our 2027 Development Programs, continuing our commitment to providing strong development pathways for our junior players.

🟠 Football Focus | U8–U11
🔵 NextGen | U12–U14

Lugarno Football Club is pleased to launch our highly sought after Development Programs - Football Focus and NextGen for season 2027. Coupled with the continuation of the older Advanced Youth team set-up for boys and girls, our football club continues to prioritise development for our juniors.

Our trials/grading days will be held on Sunday 1st and 8th of November with the venue to be confirmed.

Going into their 9th seasons, the programs continue to command enormous interest from the public as the best alternative to JDL and NPL without the unnecessary cost.

The programs will once again be headed up by our Technical Director Nicholas Olsen (current Sutherland Sharks NPL1 Captain and 2026 NPL Player of the Season) who will look after the boys’ development teams, together with a new Technical Director for our girls' development teams, who will be announced shortly.

Our development programs will cover off the U8-U14 age groups, with Football Focus catering for the non-competition teams (U8-U11) and NextGen for competition (U12-U14).

ADVANCED YOUTH TEAMS (U15 and above).
These teams are not part of our development programs but will be supported by the club with a variety of different initiatives used to enhance a more age-appropriate development pathway for youth players.

Trials for positions in these Advanced Youth teams will take place together with the development program teams detailed below.

Sue Dick Nomination 🧡⚽️💙

For more than two decades, Sue Dick has been one of the most dedicated and inspiring figures in the history of Lugarno Football Club. Sue’s service is distinguished not only by its longevity, but by the breadth and depth of her impact across every part of the club.

Sue has been involved with Lugarno FC for over 20 years, contributing continuously and with impact. She has served on the Lugarno FC Committee, demonstrating exceptional reliability, and a willingness to step into any role required to support the club’s members and operations.

Her sustained commitment over two decades places her among the longest‑serving volunteers in the club’s history.

Across her tenure, Sue has held multiple major club committee positions, often simultaneously, including:

• President
• Secretary
• Female Liaison Officer
• Canteen Manager
• Public Officer

She has been central to canteen operations, ensuring a welcoming, family‑friendly matchday environment, volunteer coordination, mentoring new committee members and strengthening the club’s volunteer culture.

Her involvement as President and Secretary was particularly influential during periods of significant club growth, when the club experienced major increases in female participation.

Sue has been one of the region’s strongest advocates for female football. Her contributions include long‑standing involvement in coaching and managing girls’ teams, helping build participation pathways and a supportive environment for young female players.

Serving as Lugarno FC’s delegate to Football St George (FSG), ensuring the club’s female football priorities were represented at association level. She has been an active membership on the FSG Female Football Committee, contributing to regional strategy, policy development, and initiatives aimed at growing the women’s game.

Her involvement has directly supported the expansion of girls’ football across the St George district and has helped establish Lugarno FC as a leader in female participation.

Her ability to manage high‑pressure operational responsibilities while maintaining warmth, professionalism, and approachability is widely recognised.

Sue’s impact has been acknowledged publicly at major club and community events. including at Lugarno FC’s 60th anniversary celebrations in 2022. Later that year Sue was inducted the Life Member ranks of Lugarno FC for exceptional service to the club.

Her work has been recognised beyond Lugarno FC, earning her prestigious honours including the Banks Community Volunteer Club Award and the Football St George Club Volunteer Award, representing formal acknowledgements of her service to football and the wider community.

Your 2026 AAWC Football St George Champions ARE Lugarno FC 🏆
Lugarno FC’s AAWC side delivered a grand final for the ages.
Facing minor premiers Hurstville Zagreb, they started with confidence and purpose, moving the ball with intent and unsettling their highly-rated opponents.
Two composed first-half goals gave Lugarno a 2-0 lead that reflected their bravery and sharpness in the big moments.
But grand finals are never straightforward.
The second half belonged to Hurstville Zagreb, who controlled possession and pinned Lugarno deep. The pressure eventually cracked the door open, first a goal, then an equaliser moments later. At 2-2, the match felt like it was slipping away.
Lugarno were exhausted, but not beaten.
They steadied themselves, slowed the game down, and began to win key moments again.
A break down the left opened the space they needed.
A perfectly timed through-ball sent the Lugarno striker clear, and with the keeper charging out, she showed incredible composure to guide the ball home. 3-2 - a goal that will live long in club memory.
The final minutes were agony.
Lugarno supporters had swelled in number and were nervously asking the linesman how long was left. His reply: “Normal time is up, it’s up to the referee now.” And with two Lugarno players having spent several minutes down earlier in the half after a head clash and a nose injury, everyone knew injury time would feel like an eternity.
And then, the whistle. Full time. Lugarno FC crowned grand final winners after one of the gutsiest performances you’ll ever see.

OUR 16A GIRLS!

All season, these girls have shown up, dug deep and fought hard to earn their place on the ladder.

They’ve battled injuries, played with the bare minimum, called on younger players to step up when needed, and through every challenge, they’ve continued to grow stronger — both individually and as a team.

Today, they showed exactly who they are and what they’re capable of. They played with heart, determination and fire right until the end.

While it may not have been the result they were chasing, Grand Final runners-up is an achievement to be incredibly proud of. It takes a huge season to make it this far, and these young ladies have earned every bit of that success.

The growth we’ve seen from this team has been something special, and we have no doubt that next year will bring even bigger and better things.

We know these girls will be back, ready to bring the fire once again.

Congratulations to our 16A girls on a brilliant season. Hold your heads high — you’ve done yourselves, your team and Lugarno FC proud.
