IMPORTANT NOTICE:
To Our Basketball Families,
We need to address a growing concern within our club that is now having a serious impact on our players, coaches, team managers, and overall culture.
There has been an increase in negative comments being made about coaches, players, team decisions, and other families. These conversations are often happening around children, who then carry this behaviour and negativity back into the team environment. This is extremely damaging.
Basketball should be a safe, supportive, and positive environment for every child involved.
Our coaches and Team Managers are volunteers. They give up countless hours of their own time to help your children learn, develop, enjoy the game, and most importantly, stay safe. Without volunteers, we do not have teams. It is that simple.
We are also seeing a severe lack of attendance at training sessions. Moving forward, attendance and commitment will directly impact court time. Players who consistently attend training, work hard, and support their teammates will be given priority during games.
Effort, attitude, respect, and commitment matter.
What is most concerning is the effect this behaviour is now having on the mental health and wellbeing of our coaches and volunteers. Some no longer want to coach due to the negativity, criticism, and disrespect they are experiencing.
This is serious, and it must stop immediately.
As a club, we will not tolerate behaviour that damages players, coaches, families, or the culture we are trying to build. If ongoing negative behaviour, bullying, disrespect, poor conduct at training, or harmful commentary continues, the club will have no option but to take further action, including removal from teams and the club.
If these issues continue across the club, we may also be forced to reduce the number of teams we can offer next season due to the loss of volunteers.
We ask all families to support our coaches, encourage all players, and help us create an environment built on respect, effort, teamwork, and positivity.
We are all here for the kids.
