In 1947 the Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) started an Old Boys Competition for past students of G.P.S. One of the teams was the Brisbane State High School Old Boys. This team became known as Colts in 1948 and finally in 1949, at the suggestion of the QRU, the club assumed the name Eastern Districts. Today the club is known as Easts Rugby Union Inc. Easts Rugby Union Inc is primarily a sport and recr

eation facility for young people in the community. It is a not-for-profit incorporated organisation that provides sporting fields, equipment, expertise and administration for young people school aged onwards. Additionally it is a social club within the community for past and present members to continue their involvement in supporting young people.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

A weekend that meant more than the scoreboard. Round 9 brought the Rick Tyrrell Cup, a chance to honour a man who gave so much to this game, and a reminder of why we play together, look out for each other, and show up every week.

The Tigers were strong across the park, from our Premier teams, across the grades and colts these players left everything on the field.

This weekend, we play for more than points. 🐉 🐅

This Saturday 30th May, the Dragons and Easts Tigers meet at Biggs Field to contest the Rick Tyrrell Cup.

As we remember Rick and the impact he had across the Queensland rugby community, the occasion also highlights the importance of looking out for one another; taking the time to check in, have conversations, and offer support where it’s needed. The tradition of both teams wearing each other’s socks continues as a meaningful symbol of empathy, understanding, and standing together.

Rick was a Dragon, a Tiger and a Red, representing Sunnybank, Easts and Queensland during his rugby career. He was part of multiple premiership-winning Easts teams, including the club’s first premiership in 1997.

PROUD PROUD PROUD

On Saturday our women’s second grade team fielded their first ever home competition game. It was an emotional day for many as this day has been years in the making. We are so proud of the tenacity, commitment, and team spirit these women show every game and every training! The win they got was incredibly well deserved with some of the loudest cheers on the sideline we’ve ever heard. We love to see it.
