In 1947 the Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) started an Old Boys Competition for past students of G.P.S. One of the teams was the Brisbane State High School Old Boys. This team became known as Colts in 1948 and finally in 1949, at the suggestion of the QRU, the club assumed the name Eastern Districts. Today the club is known as Easts Rugby Union Inc. Easts Rugby Union Inc is primarily a sport and recreation facility for young people in the community. It is a not-for-profit incorporated organisation that provides sporting fields, equipment, expertise and administration for young people school aged onwards. Additionally it is a social club within the community for past and present members to continue their involvement in supporting young people.

FOREVER A TIGER
The Easts Rugby Union community is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Henry Page.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, teammates and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. We extend our deepest condolences and send our love and support to all those grieving during this incredibly difficult time.

As we also recognise Mental Health Month, we want to remind our community of the importance of checking in with one another, not only during the rugby season, but all year round.

A simple message, phone call or conversation can mean more than we realise.

Easts will always strive to be a safe and supportive place for everyone in our community. Our doors are open, and there will always be someone here to listen.

UPDATE: NEW DATE FOR COLTS INFORMATION NIGHT

Our Colts Information Night has been postponed and will now be held on Tuesday 10 November from 6.00pm at the Easts Clubhouse.

Come along to hear more about the 2027 season, our pre-season plans and what players can expect from the Colts program.

Our coaching staff, including new Premier Grade coach, Phil Burleigh, will also be there on the night, making it a great opportunity to meet the team, ask questions and get a feel for what’s ahead.

We understand this is a busy time of year with exams underway, but we’d love to see as many of our current and future Colts there as possible! See you there!

JUNIOR 7S IS OFF AND RUNNING!

A brilliant start to the Junior 7s season last weekend, with some fantastic results across our Easts teams!

A huge shoutout to our U15 B boys and U17 Girls, who both went through the weekend undefeated with three wins from three 🔥

This weekend, the action continues at home as Easts hosts the U15, U13 & U11 Junior Girls 7s! Come down, get around our young Tigers and enjoy another big day of 7s at The Den 👏

A STRONG OPENING STATEMENT

Our Easts Women’s 7s team kicked off their season at Fiji Day over the weekend and put together a fantastic run, making it all the way through to the quarter finals!! 💥

A great start and plenty of positive signs as the 7s season gets underway!

Next stop: Byron Bay 7s this weekend 🏝️

A COACH, A MENTOR, A TIGER

A huge thank you to Jack Richards, who has been an incredibly important part of Easts for many years, contributing to the club both on the field as a player and on the sidelines as a coach.

For the past 10 years, Jack has been a cornerstone of our Colts coaching program, helping shape not only the structure and success of the program, but also the development of so many young Tigers who have come through it!

His dedication, leadership and commitment to Easts have left a lasting impact, and we are incredibly grateful for everything he has given to the club.

Thank you for everything, Jack. You’ll always be a huge part of the Tiger family. Tiger 4 Life! 💙💛

A NEW CHAPTER AT THE DEN

Easts Rugby Union is excited to officially welcome Phil Burleigh as our new First Grade Men’s Head Coach!

Phil brings a wealth of professional rugby experience to The Den, having enjoyed a playing career across New Zealand, Scotland and Japan, including representing the Highlanders in Super Rugby, Edinburgh Rugby and earning international honours with Scotland.

Phil joins the Tigers with a strong appreciation for the club’s history and is looking forward to building on the foundations laid by those before him.

After many years of dedication we’d like to extend a massive thank you to Simon Craig for his incredible contribution to Easts Rugby Union!

From being part of our historic 2020 First Grade Premiership-winning team to playing an instrumental role in the club’s success over recent years, Craigy has been so much more than just a coach.

His passion, commitment and impact on the players and wider Easts community have left a lasting mark on the club.
