Great weekend in Mallacoota for our annual end of season paddle. As MWD is 10 years old this year, our dress up theme was, What you wanted to be when you were 10!
It started with the Koala Hunt, we were successful finding 3 in one tree.
After unloading the boats, we headed up to Karbethong picnic area with a few detours due to shallow water, morning tea was over catered as per usual, around 4.5 KLM paddle. Then we headed further up into the lake system playing games and quizzes along the way. It was very quiet on the water with only a few fishing boats out, including Steve and Cath, oh no, they were the safety boat. We are so privileged to paddle in this wilderness area. Around 6.5 KLM.
Back to Karbethong for lunch, some thong throwing, a bit of a rest and the sweeps challenge, fastest 360 turn. Good to see non sweeps having a go.
A few firsts, we had Ruby on the drum on the first leg and then she had a go at sweeping. Cas and Lyn also hopped on the back and did a great job. Catherine Martino overcame her fear of getting wet again, and also had a sweep.
We finished the day at the pub where we all dressed in our themed costumes. The Silver Dragon necklace changed hands, past from Bernie to Mick.
Thank you to our volunteers who were in charge of catering, the food was fabulous.
Thanks to Amanda Harris for the games and quizzes, I have never done so many 360 turns and everyone else who helped out.
Until next year Mallacoota!
