Empowering Young Leaders Through Advocacy

Recently, members of our Youth Leadership Committee (MYLC) had the opportunity to participate in the Advocacy in Action Workshop, facilitated by the YMCA.

The workshop was incredibly informative, inspiring, and engaging, providing our young leaders with valuable knowledge, practical tools, and resources that they can continue to use throughout their leadership journey. The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with many leaving feeling empowered and motivated to create positive change in their communities.

Throughout the session, participants explored:
✅ Issues they are passionate about
✅ The role of advocacy and its impact on society
✅ How to advocate effectively for causes they care about
✅ Setting clear goals and outcomes for their chosen issue
✅ Building a strong case for why their issue matters to others

The workshop equipped participants with a practical advocacy toolkit and guided them through developing an initial advocacy plan, helping them identify their purpose, define their goals, and take the first steps towards meaningful change.

A huge thank you to the YMCA for delivering such an engaging and thought-provoking workshop.

We would also like to sincerely thank Community Bank Ringwood East for their ongoing support of the MYLC. Their investment in young people and leadership development helps create valuable opportunities like this, empowering our youth to learn, grow, and make a positive impact in the community.

We look forward to seeing how our young leaders apply these skills and continue to drive meaningful change.

Lots of Round Robin fun today.
Congratulations to everyone on a fantastic Autumn 2026 netball season.
A huge shoutout to every player who gave their all on the court. Your dedication, passion, teamwork and sportsmanship have been wonderful to watch. Whether you were shooting, defending, passing, or cheering on your teammates, every contribution helped make this season special.

A special thank you to our amazing coaches, umpires and volunteers. Your time, commitment and hard work behind the scenes have created an environment where players can learn, grow and enjoy the game they love. We are incredibly grateful for everything you do.

The forecast is predicting some rain this evening. We are still planning to proceed with the 9 & Under NetSetGO Round Robin.

Teams need to turn up as scheduled. MENA has an adverse weather fixture prepared and ready to go should the weather impact the use of the outdoor courts.

Conditions will be monitored throughout the evening and any necessary adjustments will be made to ensure safety.

Congratulations to our Melbourne East Netball Association Rep Program 15&U and 17&U Championship and Reserve teams who participated in the Association Championships at the end of May. A fantastic day of netball was played, with all teams showing great effort, improvement, and skill across a high standard of competition.

15.1s: Had a great day under Coach Bron, finishing 5th in their pool and showcasing some strong netball throughout.
15.2s: Overcame a slow start to finish 6th of 10. A highlight was a coach-pleasing strong win over Waverley Night.
17.1s: Finished 5th by percentage only in a very competitive pool. The team trialled many combinations and produced some excellent passages of skilful play.
17.2s: Finished 3rd, narrowly missing a semi-final spot. With several new players in the team, they demonstrated fantastic team spirit and growth throughout the day.

A big congratulations to our umpires: Laura DLP, Abbey S, Lilly D and Gabby L for their efforts and contribution across the day.

Congratulations to our Melbourne East Netball Association Rep Program 15&U Male team and Coach Terron who competed in today’s Association Championships. The team finished runners-up after a tough final against strong opposition.

Across the day, they displayed fantastic netball and consistency, playing in true MENA style and representing the association with pride.
