Victoria Men's Roller Derby The Vanguard - Victoria Men's Roller Derby We became an incorporated league in 2016 along with becoming a Men's Roller derby Association Member the same year.

Victorian Vanguard was established in March 2013 as a collective group of skaters from various backgrounds interested in competing against the rising number of men’s roller derby teams in Australia. With a strong focus on camaraderie and through our dedication to excellence in performance on the track we have become the premier men’s roller derby team in Australia, winning both the 2014, 2015 and

2016 AMRD Men’s National Championships. VMRD train hard, support each other and make no excuses. We earn our wins and learn from our losses.

We could not be prouder of our VMRD teammates who are representing Australia as Wizards of Aus this week at the 2026 in Orleans, France.

The passion and dedication of this group is invaluable at VMRD, and we can’t wait to watch them—and the rest of the tremendous Wizards squad—on the world stage.

If that wasn’t reason enough to be proud, also representing at the World Cup are Velocity-Raptor (bench, ) and B-Sting ._b (skater, ). These legends have a few world cups behind them already and we are so excited to watch them do their thing in France.

Home team goodness!

On Sunday, our skaters headed south to join Kingston City Rollers for their end of season double header. We had skaters hitting the track in both the KCR Sovereigns vs Pot Luck game, and the home team final. Our officials helped out, as well.

It was fast and fun derby, and we can’t wait to do it again! Thanks for having us, KCR!

What a game!

The Valkyries travelled to Brisbane yesterday (and came home the very same night!) for QRDL’s Open Season day of derby to take on BCR’s HitSquad! It was a close one right up until the very last jam with BCR taking the win by three exciting points!

Final score:
BCR Hitsquad 121 to VMRD Valkyries 118 🏆

Our MVPs were:
VMRD blocker: LouLou
VMRD jammer: Faster Chief
BCR blocker: Gravy
BCR jammer: Felony
BCR team spirit: Unforgiving Bunny

Not only was it a great day of derby, it was also an opportunity to catch up with longtime friends and former teammates. So good to see everyone, on and off the track!

Huge thanks to QRDL and BCR for inviting us up. We can’t wait to do it again!
