How many time shave you said this: ‘I hate watching myself back’

That icky feeling is because you either learned what you’re going to say and it comes out performed — or you don’t prepare at all and it comes out as a ramble you’d never send to a client.

Most people conclude they’re just bad on camera and stop.

Remember: You should use discomfort as your cue to stop performing. It’s the most accurate read of what the audience will experience when you hit publish.

And it isn’t a confidence problem. It’s a preparation problem….

Structure isn’t the enemy of sounding like yourself. It’s the only thing that lets you.

Building a platform talking only about what you know is a huge missed opportunity to bring people in on your journey.

The best part of your story is: what the mission cost you, what you got wrong, who you became that you weren’t at the beginning. I call that the long arc.

It’s the reason living a life and sharing that life with others is so valuable.

Founders come to me thinking they need to get better at being on camera. The real need is to organise their storylines of their mission, transformation and origin story so that the onscreen journey with you feels complete.

Hiring an experienced producer means you’ll have clarity in telling your story and then there is nothing left to manage except being yourself.

I built a closing segment for a podcast I’m producing this season. Every episode ends the same way: describe the person you were at twenty, and tell me what you’d say to her now.

I wrote it because of what it does structurally. Guests arrive ready to tell their origin story on auto pilot. And closing on this question asks them to pivot out of what they think is coming and have a real human moment.

I decided to get this format myself. And you’ll have to wait until episode two to find out what my reaction is...

The reason I’m showing you the mechanism of producing a show is because we genuinely have the power drive impactful moments. Moments that are about more than just growing followers, making a million dollar profit on your e-comm business.

This is about driving relatable moments as entertainment. Not cheap trends that die in a week. Always try to create something that people will remember x

Over explaining is so common. And it’s usually a product of nervous energy.

It’s also the one thing that dilutes our message and our presence. It stops us from being relaxed, and taking the time connect with what we want to say.

The best speakers don’t rush their point. In fact, they enjoy the process of taking the audience along on the journey...

Almost all social content is geared towards helping people navigate choices.

Therefore we could say your value as a creator is how you navigate people to make a choice. Your entire business model hinges on this!

Then why isn’t it a primary part of your onscreen storytelling. Where does your philosophy on making choices sit in your current structure?

If you have have seen my The Hero’s Journey for Creators series go back use that framework to map out your own content
