Kokoda Wallaby

Kokoda Wallaby Stan Bisset ~ "Kokoda Wallaby" played for Power House and captained First Grade to the Clubs first Premiership in 1938.

He went on to be selected to play for the Wallabies and traveled to England in 1939 arriving the day before WW2 was declared. The tour was cancelled and Stan joined the army and fought in Kokoda alongside his brother Hal. After the war Stan continued his involvement in Lord Somers Camp & Power House. When he passed away in 2010, he was Australia's oldest living Wallaby at 98 years old. It is a fit

ting tribute to name the new Pavilion at Albert Park after Stan Bisset MC, OAM, MID. On ANZAC Day, Power House Rugby Union Club hold a service to remember the 73 Lord Somers Camp & Power House members that lost their lives during WW2. They were:

An important concern is respectfully raised regarding the scheduling of junior rugby union games on Saturday 25 April being ANZAC Day.

This day holds deep significance as each year, Power House Rugby Union Melbourne hosts a commemorative breakfast to honour, amongst others, the 73 Lord Somers & Power House members who lost their lives in World War II. It is a long-standing tradition of remembrance, reflection, and respect.

The current Rugby fixture scheduling creates a conflict for our junior players, coaches, families, and volunteers, forcing them to choose between participating in rugby or attending this important ANZAC Day service.

ANZAC Day is a time for all Australians to pause, reflect, and pay tribute to those who served and sacrificed. Community sport plays a vital role in bringing people together, and we feel it should support, not compete with this national moment of remembrance.

Rugby Victoria please reconsider the scheduling to allow players, families, and clubs the opportunity to fully participate in ANZAC Day commemorations.

$350 million F1 upgrade β–€β–„β–€β–„β–€β–„
The new building will include seven indoor sport courts, two more than are currently on site, and improved clubrooms for clubs using the outdoor fields. The project includes park upgrades that benefit the local community and everyone who visits Albert Park... – more space for community sport, more courts, better changerooms and park upgrades.

The pit building will be under construction between the 2026 and 2028 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix events and, therefore, not available to use by the public.

The three community sporting groups that will be provided temporary clubroom facilities during construction and will be able to access their existing playing fields.

The area immediately around the pit building will be impacted during the works and some roadways and paths may be diverted. Notice of any changes to access ways and will be provided on site including directional signage.

Some of the casual use courts at the south eastern end of the existing building as well as field 16 west will be impacted by the works and unavailable during the construction period.

Access to allocated playing fields for tenant clubs will be maintained or suitable alternatives identified.
