What a day! Thanks to 125 paddlers of all ages and stages who participated in today's season opener at Sandridge across all distances and craft in calm conditions.

Great turnout from the outrigger paddlers in V6/V2/V1, the juniors from Strathcona and Trinity, the SUP VIC paddlers and the ocean and spec ski community.

Huge thanks to all those helpers who made our largest paddle race to date a big success! Kudos to the Sandridge LSC for hosting, the water safety crew for keeping us safe, the sausage sizzler helpers, and Rob Cruse photographer for capturing all the excitement of race day and the VOPC committee.

FINAL COURSE CONFIRMATION for the Peninsula Downwind Classic!

We are ON for Saturday Frankston to Mordialloc (long course) and Patterson River to Mordialloc (short course)!

Forecast is reasonable with 15 knots plus from the south. Great intermediate course with enough in it for experienced paddlers to have a red hot race.

Get your final entries in by 5pm tomorrow (we have 34 so far with 4 SUPS). Register here:
https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=417292

For ski transport email: [email protected] (first in best dressed).

A full briefing will be coming soon but much of the info you need is here: https://www.mppaddlers.org/peninsula-downwind-classic-2

It will be expected that all paddlers are across this info particularly the requirements to enable GPS tracking through the Webscorer app on your phone. If you don’t have this working we will not check you in to start (support to set up available at registrations but pls test beforehand).

Also reminder to please familiarise yourself with the course to be independent with navigation. Landmarks will be provided in the briefing but every paddler needs to be familiar with the course/wind and make their own judgements.

Presentation afterwards will be at Mordialloc Yacht Club (with thanks) and there are heaps of prizes from our sponsors REVO Kayak Australia, Meek Paddles, Vaikobi.

Looking forward to a great day! HURRY! Entries close 5pm Friday 6th March!
