🛼✨ Team Indigenous Dreaming is Calling! ✨🛼

Are you a roller derby skater, official, volunteer or community member whose cultural identity connects to Indigenous peoples impacted by colonisation?

Team Indigenous Dreaming is a borderless roller derby team bringing together Indigenous athletes and supporters from across the globe. We’re creating a space where culture, community, connection and roller derby come together to celebrate and uplift Indigenous peoples through sport.

🌏 We welcome people from Indigenous and culturally diverse communities now residing on these lands known today as Australia, including but not limited to:

• Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples
• South Sea Islander peoples
• Māori & other Indigenous peoples of Aotearoa
• Native American / Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island
• South-East Asian communities
• African communities

This list is not exhaustive - we welcome people from all First Nations, Indigenous and culturally diverse communities impacted by colonisation.

💫 TID is a no-fee team. We know financial barriers can prevent people from accessing sport, and we want to make involvement as accessible as possible.

Whether you’re an experienced skater, just starting your derby journey, or keen to support the team in another capacity, we’d love to hear from you!

NAIDOC Week may be over, but our people, our cultures and our communities are here every day of the year.

We intentionally waited until after NAIDOC Week to share this because the celebration and recognition of First Nations peoples shouldn’t be confined to one week on the calendar.

NAIDOC Week is a powerful opportunity to reflect, celebrate and learn - but true support is found in what happens after the week ends.

For our roller derby community, that means continuing to build a sport where First Nations skaters feel seen, respected and valued. It means recognising that inclusion isn’t just about a post or an Acknowledgement - it’s about the relationships we build and the choices we make every day.

It looks like making space for First Nations voices, and prioritising access and equity. It looks like showing up for Indigenous-led initiatives. It looks like celebrating First Nations skaters, stories and achievements not just during NAIDOC Week, but throughout the entire year.

Because community isn’t built in a single week. It’s built through ongoing connection, respect and action.

Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep walking alongside First Nations peoples - because the future we’re creating is for the next generation.

A future where blak and brown young people can see themselves represented, see their cultures celebrated and see people who look like them thriving in spaces they may have once felt they didn’t belong.

As the sun goes down after The Great Southern Slam (TGSS) 2026, Team Indigenous Dreaming (TID) would like to shout our appreciation for so many who got us to Kaurna Country and held us while we were there.

To ALL the people who sent us messages of support & the communities who came together to ground us; to the many businesses & organisations who generously donated prizes for our fundraiser and those that bought raffle tickets and merchandise - we say the most biggest deadliest derby-est THANK YOU.

Every message, video and email you sent us, every ticket and t-shirt you bought, every yarn, laugh and ugly-cry we shared with you at TGSS 2026 has been a massive boost for our collective of First Nations Derby players and officials.

To all the people who danced with us before our bout, screamed for us when we played, who cried with us when we took out the win in a hard-fought battle to the end; to all the photographers who captured our moments of DEADLYNESS and continue to make us shine – we say mandaang guwu, baugull wanyi - Thank you!

It’s through having such generous support and encouragement from all of you that we can continue to be a presence and represent at the national level with such cultural pride and confidence - and for that we really are grateful beyond words.

Hugest thanks must go to the organising committees of TGSS for such a vital opportunity to decolonise the track! We loved playing The Gender Ending Story! The deep collaboration and affirmation for both our teams to be self-determined in representing our homelands and communities at TGSS was extraordinary – as an organisation you are PROPPA DEADLY.

Team TID has now returned back to our homes and families with the warmth of having done important business together. We hold firm to the pride of being seen, heard and felt on and off track at TGSS.

We thank you, we smile and we look forward to doing the derby with you all again very soon. We are not crying, you are crying 😭❤️

Big, fat derby thanks to:
