FYI

Unfortunately, due to compounding rainfall, volume of trail usage and present ‘unsafe condition’ of the MTB trails at Lysterfield Park Victoria have decided to close all MTB trails within Lysterfield Park for 2 weeks (reopening 1st November).
This decision has not been made lightly but is necessary in order to maintain visitor safety.

This closure has been actioned under Section 9.1 of the Lysterfield Park Mountain Bike Maintenance & Improvement Plan, outlining:
‘All MTB trails will be closed when 30mm of rain is received in a single 24-hour period , or when 50mm of rain is received in 3 consecutive days’.
The Lysterfield depot rain gauge has shown both these parameters, with upwards of 50mm of rain recorded from the 14th – 16th October (30mm on Friday 15th).

Furthermore, with trails such as Aneurysm and Lower Buckle (section) already closed, this closure will help to prevent further degradation of trail conditions and reduce the chance of extended closures for more trails over the coming months.

Closure signage will be placed at the Park entry at Horsewood Road and Hallam North. Furthermore, closure signage will be placed on notice boards within Lysterfield Park. Closures will also be highlight on the Parks Victoria Website.

LDTR kindly asks that all riders respect the closure and do not continue to the ride the trails.

We've just had the official word from Parks Victoria that all MTB single track is now open at Lysty!

We'd like to thank our dedicated LDTR volunteers for their hours of work both on the ground and behind the scenes, also Parks Victoria and the Friends of Lysterfield for their work to open the trails. What a fantastic group effort!

That's right we have re launched the Pozible campaign for one last crack at opening Australias FIRST not for profit MTB shop!

For all those people that have ridden Lysty and wish to see the network reach it's full potential this is it!

If this campaign is not successful then Lysterfield Cycles simply will not open and the location will be offered to a private operator.

Over the last few days, the 100% volunteer Lysterfield Cycles committee has been working on amending our Pozible campaign. This was off the back of some fantastic feedback from the MTB community, who clearly want to see it succeed!

Purely not for profit, community focused and with the aim to improve the trail network and services; Lysterfield Cycles has been worked on for many years behind the scenes by some of the Lysterfield MTB Committee and is now in the fundraising and support stage to be made in to a reality.

If you ride your bike at Lysterfield, wish you could have had a bike to ride or have ever wanted an improved riding experience at the park, this community bike shop is aiming to fill those gaps.

It’s planned that any profits raised from the shop will directly fund future trail maintenance. This will include:
🚲 Engaging professional trail builders,
🚲 Helping the Lysterfield District Trail Riders pay for trail maintenance materials.
🚲 Support broader community activities such as:
👍 Facility upgrades like bench seating, gym stations, more MTB trails & bike stands around the park.
👍 Local rider support or sponsorship.
👍 Support for official social rides, such as first aid kits and basic tool kits for ride leaders, and last minute spares for riders.
👍 Providing a hub for local riders to catch up before or after rides

Situated at the front of the main entrance to Lysterfield Park within the newly built building with The Orchard at Montague where the new community shop will be your destination of choice before and after each ride (or any adventure at the park) you have.

Here is your chance to help shape the future of Lysterfield Park's trail network and community and create some community growth support for the park and trails you have come to love.
