Substantial Bluefin Tuna, weighing between 60kg and 130kg, are currently being caught off the coast of Melbourne. This season is like many years ago with me catching so many Knobby nosed freight train Snapper on a regular basis.
I always know when 1 is hooked as they fight dirty going under or to the front of the boat or take 50-100 metres of line of the spool in a single run.
Always a great adrenaline rush that’s for sure.
If you’re keen to catch 1 then don’t be afraid to put out a big Squid strip or head. A KGW head or a whole silver or Yellow tail mackerel and DONT ever do the drag up thinking it maybe an eagle ray and try and break it off.
Good luck if you ever hookup to 1 and completely enjoy the ride. 👍👍
