Nics At The 'G' started some 25 years ago in the mid 80's when a couple of my mates decided it would be good to have a BBQ and a beer in the car park of the MCG on Grand Final Day. There would have only been about 5 or 6 of us to start with for the first couple of years. Some of the guys would bring the beer, other would bring the meat....and over first couple of years as a couple more guys would
come they would maybe bring their own required amounts, others would not. This all resulted in only 1 thing......we would run out of beer and food by the afternoon. So I decided to take it upon myself to rrun the show all on my own to make sure that everyone who visited Nics At The 'G' never ran out of anything and that it would be a day to remember. So from there, Nics At The 'G' was born and it just took off from there. Since that day, the numbers attending Nics At The 'G' has grown and now Nick has received legend status. People from the likes of Greg Anderson to Kevin Sheedy have attended the BBQ to enjoy the atmosphere that the BBQ creates in the park
Nics At The 'G' has hit many hurdles over the years. None more so when they decided to shift the AFL Grand Final from the MCG to Waverley Park. But Nick is great with adversity, so when the Grand Final shifted.....so did Nics At The 'G'. Each year even sports writers and journalists are clamouring to get a piece of Nick, appearing on the Channel 9 Footy Show and the front page of the Sunday Age Newspaper, Fox Sports, Channel 7, 9 & 10 News. So as you can see, Nics is a popular place to be on grand final day and we want you to make it bigger. Please enjoy our site and have a look through our galleries to see the great times we have had over the years. You too could be a part of the day and have a great day with us.
