Shaheens Sporting and Social Club Limited (Shaheens) is the brainchild of Kashif Bouns a social activist, prominent community leader and diversity advocate. Bouns recognized that the multicultural youth in Australia needed greater opportunities to connect with the wider Australian society. Pakistan Shaheens was the inaugural project of Shaheens sporting and social club. It was the first Pakistani

AFL team to take part in the AFL International Cup held in Melbourne in 2014. Shaheen is a word of Persian origin for the peregrine falcon; a bird that is relatively small in size yet has immense strength and the ability to strike its prey from a great height. It’s a symbol of determination and courage, qualities we cherish in sport and inculcate in our team members and supporters. Our key objectives are:
To promote the importance of sports amongst members of multicultural communities through games like AFL and Cricket. To promote social cohesion and harmony among the Culturally And Linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in Australia. To improve the health and wellbeing levels of multicultural communities in Australia. To promote better connection between the new arrivals and the mainstream community. To create awareness about sport as an alternate career path.
