π PERFECTING YOUR WARM UPS π
Knowing how to warm up properly based on the TYPE of workout and the INTENSITY as well, will go a long way to upscaling π your performance in the gym π₯ and reaching your goals π― π
So enough π«·of the light intensity cardio then hopping straight into the workout, arrive a bit earlier and try these instead β¬οΈ
- DYNAMIC STRETCHINGβ
: This means actively moving the muscles through stretch and flexion movements and completing body weight versions of the exercises you will perform in your session. If youβre doing upper body, focus on the arms , back, core or chest. πͺ
For leg day, focus on lower body movements π¦΅
- STATIC STRETCHINGβ
: Can be an excellent way to release tension through the joints prior to training, but can also be useful for promoting blood flow π©Έ through tight and sore muscles after a tough workout π°.
We recommend holding the stretch position for 30-40seconds for the best results β°
- WARM UP SETSβ
: Completing up to 3 gradual loaded sets of the exercise to BUILD up to your working set weight can be a great way to prep the muscles for higher loads / demands π€
We recommend 1-2 warm up sets for LIGHT/MEDIUM intensity training and up to 3 warmup sets for HIGH intensity training π₯
While it may add up to 5-10mins on top of your planned workout time β±οΈ, nailing your warm up and cool down is vital for training at your PEAK performance ποΈ in the gym and helping lower the risk of injury π€ during training !!
