Part 8 Day 1- Peru Trip September 2025 continued
Spilt into 2 parts. Day 1 and Day 2
Trek to Machu Picchu - 2 days/1night. The highlight of our Peru Trip.
After an early breakfast and luggage drop of at the hotel reception, we walked to Ollantaytambo train station, 10 minutes away, with only our backpack we will carry ourselves, containing our essentials for the next two days plus lots of water.
Greeted by local musicians and dancing before our Vistadome train arrived. Although the last stop for this train is Aguas Caliente (small town locate at the bottom of Machu Picchu (MP) mountain and is where to catch the bus up to the entrance of Machu Picchu if not trekking there and area for accommodation) we will stop before then at KM104 stop to check into the National Park before we set off on our trek.
We started our trek between 8.30 -9.00 am. Next stop- uphill for 3hrs to Winaywayna. Steep, narrow at times, paths, lots of STEEP steps. It was a challenging walk up as the sun came out in it's full glory and the high altitude making frequent stops a must. BUT, the scenery was spectacular. After a few rest stops, we arrived a Winaywayna Inca complex, an impressive site made up of an agricultural center with numerous terraces, a religious and urban sector. After a brief picnic lunch, off we go again to find the Gingo steps on the way to The Sun Gate. We found them. Phew it was steep. Could not look back in case you would fall backwards. On hands and feet except for our Guide Chris. Piece of cake for him. Next stop, Intipunku (Sund Gate) and first view of Machu Picchu. What a wonderous site to behold. We are so close now. Down we go but easy trek due to STEEP steps and uneven ground. Seemed like forever until we reached the beloved and spiritual Machu Picchu Mountain. There it was in all it's glory. There is so much history connected to why this city was built here. A quick search will provide you with the answers if interested because it is a long story. Can't believe we have finally arrived. We arrive about 5.30pm. Very long day but it was worth every step, gulp of water and endless photos of the trip along the way. We will never ever forget it. So magical. After honoring the sacred mountain and lot's more pics, we head down to Aguas Caliente by bus on the windy, steep road. We were very thankful for a refreshing show and lovely dinner before heading off to bed.

CLASSES NEXT WEEK:
From Tuesday 21st July until the Tuesday 28th July, there will be no classes running. Classes will re commence Wednesday 29th July at 9.30 a.m. This is the last class for July. Please follow the August class timetable from then on.

Part 7 - Peru Trip September 2025 continued
Apologies for delay in posting the balance of our Peru Trip but have been on another adventure since, which I will post at some point later on. You may need to back track on my posts to find Part 6 and continue from there

After our first part of our stay in Cusco (first part prioer to our Macchu Picchu tour and second part on return to Cusco for a couple of days), we started our Macchu Picchu tour with Top Peru Trips. Before starting our Macchu Picchu 2 day/1night trek, we made a few stops on the way with 2 nights stay in Ollantaytambo.

Highlights: Sacred Valley.
• Cusco to Maras town
• Inca Ruins of Moray called “ The Inca Laboratory” famous for its deep, concentric circular terraces that form giant, natural amphitheatres. It is widely celebrated as an ancient agricultural laboratory, where the Incas utilized varying depths and sun exposures to cultivate crops across distinct microclimate.
• The Maras Salt Mines (Salineras de Maras) are a breathtaking terraced landscape in Peru's Sacred Valley, located 50 km northwest of Cusco. Fed by a pre-Incan underground saltwater spring, this ancient complex features over 3,000 evaporation ponds operated by 600 local families.
• Day visit to Traditional Tauca Village, Chincheru with traditional lunch, later own exploration of Ollanytambo.

Tomorrow morning Pilates and Yoga classes- Saturday 10th July

Just a friendly reminder that this coming Saturday 11th July Pilates and Yoga classes will be held in a different room. Same complex, just different room.
Classes will be held in the ANNEX BUILDING, a greyish corrugated iron building located before the kinda playground. Room will be located in the first building on the right hand side as you enter the driveway. Same location just different building and room.
Class times have not changed.
