To make them feel good, feel happy and to believe in themselves. By the time I was ten years old, I had already experienced two wars and lived in 3 different countries. Born in a war-torn Iraq in 1981 to a Christian family, my family and I were forced to migrate to neighboring Turkey where we would live as refugees in refugee camps and temporary accommodation. 3 years later we would make our way t
o Australia which I am now blessed to call home. With no extended family, friends or spoken English, I now had to re-establish my identity and develop a new personality so that I could thrive and make the most of this opportunity I was so blessed to receive. Luckily, this was easy for me as I am a very quick learner and can easily adapt to any environment. As a young adult, I had vouched to myself to never settle for being average or poor. I would work hard at every opportunity that was presented to me or that which I created for myself. Being a refugee and coming from nothing has given me a drive and hunger that has been responsible for so many trials and tribulations, mistakes, misfortunes, failures, regrets, addictions (many of them), and pain. It is also this drive and hunger that has taken me around the world, allowed me to meet and mingle with people of all caliber, helped many in need, raise thousands for charity, be involved directly or indirectly in over 15 different business and startups, driven many nice cars, travelled first class, stayed in 6 star resorts, married the girl of my dreams and created a beautiful family; all this before I was 30 years Old. While there have been many ups and downs in my life, two things have remained consistent:
1.The burning and sometimes annoying desire to be better than I was yesterday and
2.The desire to share my knowledge and experience to help others. I truly and with all my heart believe that my one purpose in life and the reason for my existence is to make people happy, strong and to believe in themselves so they can live their best lives. I am JY the Catalyst.
